A homicide investigation is underway in Memphis following an incident in which a teen was stabbed to death while fighting another girl around her age this week.

18-year-old Britney Algood lost her life late Thursday (Jul. 5) after getting into a fight with another woman later identified on social media as Bianca Sims.

Cell phone footage showing the fight and the stabbing went viral on social media.

According to WSOC-TV, police were called to the scene of what they described as a “neighborhood fight” Friday, and when they arrived, they found two women, who witnesses said knew each other, fighting. “Once she pulled off, the victim was bleeding heavily,” one witness told Fox 13 Memphis.

Britney Algood, a recent high school graduate, was taken to St. Francis Hospital, where she later died from her injuries. Bianca Sims, the woman responsible for the stabbing,  remained on the scene and was later detained by officers, but wasn’t charged.

According to MPD, this is an “ongoing investigation” as they determine whether the homicide was justifiable.

Here’s what you need to know about Britney Algood and the stabbing incident that took her life:

Britney Algood was fighting a girl named Bianca Sims when she was fatally stabbed. The fight was apparently related to an ongoing “beef” over a boy Britney’s friend was dating.

Memphis police said two young women got into a fight near the intersection of Knight Arnold and Ridgeway around 6 p.m. Thursday evening (Jul. 5) The fight happened between two females who knew each other, police said. Those two women were 18-year-old Britney Algood and a woman later identified on social media as Bianca Sims.

At one point during the fight, Bianca pulled out a knife and stabbed Britney. Britney was taken to St. Francis Hospital by private vehicle and later died as a result of her injuries. Bianca remained on the scene and was detained by officers, but she wasn’t charged with anything.

According to one woman on Facebook, the fight was the result of an ongoing beef over the past year between Bianca and a friend of Britney’s over a boy.

“Everything started when I got with my Ex that is currently Britney’s best friend (Rossiar) boyfriend,” a woman using the name “Kash Key” wrote on Facebook. “Rossiar started wanting to fight because of the simple fact that the lil nothing a** boy wanted me. Rossiar, Rossiar’s mother, and [Rossiar’s] friend followed me and the boy to the Southaven Mall and was trying to jump me then. So of course just like anybody else folks my people [were] pissed off about it & that’s when [Rossiar’s] best friend (Britney) got in the situation. This is [an] ongoing beef since like last year.”

Cell phone video footage showing the moment Britney Algood was stabbed went viral on social media.

Video footage showing the fight and the moment Britney was stabbed by Bianca was shared on social media, where it quickly went viral.

The viral cell phone footage also showed a baby being taken from a car near the chaos at one point. In one clip, a woman can be heard saying “don’t shoot!” insinuating that someone had pulled out a gun. “She cut the sh** out of her,” says another man off-camera. “With the big knife?” the woman asks. “Yeah,” the man replies.

A man named Julius Hughes told WREG Memphis that he saw the commotion as he was driving by. “I busted a U-Turn because I was trying to figure out what was going on and I understand she was stabbed, blood was coming from everywhere,” Hughes said. “It was broad daylight. It was hot. It was broad daylight. It’s crazy out here, this area’s known for a lot of crime, it’s getting bad out here.”

Another eyewitness, who didn’t want to be named, said he was leaving work when he saw the fight. He said he saw one of the women pull out a knife and stab the other. The stabbing victim (Britney Algood) could be seen in the video footage running from the scene.

“Once she pulled off, the victim was bleeding heavily,” the anonymous witness told Fox 13 Memphis. “It’s like they were trying to jump the young lady, the victim,” the eyewitness said, adding that many other spectators were also recording the incident with their cell phones. “One girl had her camera out and was hitting the girl at the same time her friend was dying,” he said.

Someone who was with Britney Algood allegedly pulled out a gun during the fight, and Bianca Sims is claiming she stabbed Britney out of self-defense because her baby was in the car.

Friends of Bianca’s, some of whom were present during the altercation, say that she stabbed Britney out of self-defense because a man who was with Britney pulled out a gun and pointed it at the back of Bianca’s car, where her baby was sitting.

Kash Key wrote on Facebook: “The day Britney was stabbed Bianca was taking her baby to the Emergency Room, Britney and a car full of girls and a boy seen Bianca waiting at a stop sign by her house and turned around and started following her (FOR EVERYBODY SAYING “WHY WOULD SHE BRING HER BABY TO A MEET UP”). She was telling them that she wasn’t [about to] do all that [while] her baby was in the car & the dude with the gun was hanging out the back seat pointing a gun towards Bianca’s back seat to where her baby was.”

Kash Key continued: “Bianca stopped at a gas station where PLENTY [of] people [were]. They approached Bianca car, THEY OPENED HER DOOR. That is SELF DEFENSE FOR SURE. The Detectives pulled the City street cameras and seen the car who was following Bianca Ran 2 red lights trying to get to her and they also pulled the store cameras and seen that they approached her car! That’s why ITS A JUSTIFIABLE HOMICIDE.”

Kash Key also answered the question as to why Bianca had a knife in the car to begin with, and she also cleared up some discrepancies with the stories, most notably the fact that local media outlets are saying that Britney was stabbed in the head, which Kash Key said isn’t true.

“Just because we all had words in the past [does] not justify them pointing a gun towards her baby or putting her baby in harm’s way. Just like Bianca should’ve never pulled over they should’ve never been following her. Y’all can come up with however many stories y’all want to but FACTS [ARE] FACTS, and what’s done is done,” she said. “And as far as Bianca having a knife in the car she [KEEPS] a knife in the car, pepper spray too. The same reason these n****s walk around with guns every day. AND FOR EVERYBODY ASKING ‘WHY SHE DIDNT STAB THE BOY,’ the boy wasn’t the one who opened her door, Britney was! And all the news information is FALSE, Britney was NOT stabbed in the head.”

Read Kash Key’s entire Facebook post below:

Britney’s cousins say the gun was pulled out AFTER Britney was stabbed and they’re questioning Bianca’s claim that she was driving her baby to the ER at the time of the incident.

After the incident, Britney’s cousins went on Facebook Live and explained their side of the story.

They said that the story from Bianca’s people saying that a gun was pulled out at the beginning of the fight was not true. According to Britney’s cousins, the gun was pulled out AFTER Britney was stabbed.

Britney’s cousins also questioned Bianca’s claim that she was driving her baby to the Emergency Room at the time of the incident.

“She [Bianca] claims she was taking her baby to the emergency room for some odd reason. But, why you at a gas station? Oh, ’cause they was following you. Why would you pull up at the gas station, b**ch go to the emergency room, the f*** is you pulling up at the gas station for. I wanna know the real story, that’s all I wanna know.

“It’s too many stories. First of all, y’all said she was going to the Emergency Room. But, on the post, how the f*** was she going to the Emergency Room when she was supposed to ‘meet up’ with Britney. But, next thing you know, I hear Britney was supposed to be waiting on Rossia at the pool. So what the f*** really going on.

“You had a knife on you for what? That [doesn’t] sound right. Why would you ride around with a kitchen knife on you? … Damn right they had a gun, and guess what, fool? The gun got pulled after Britney got stabbed, leaking, dying, running…

“They hollering about gun this and gun that… the gun was pulled out after Britney was stabbed. You can see Britney running, fool. And then they like, ‘Don’t shoot, don’t shoot.’ Damn right, don’t shoot. Britney was already f***ing gushing.”

Police have arrested a second suspect in XXXTentacion’s murder case.

22-year-old Michael Boatwright was arrested on an unrelated drug charge on Thursday, July 5th, and while he was in jail, he was served with a warrant on Tuesday, July 10th for first-degree murder.

According to court docs, when Boatwright was pulled over on July 5th for tinted windows, officers smelled marijuana and then discovered 6 grams of crack cocaine in his pocket.

Boatwright’s arrest record shows that, in addition to the murder charge, Boatwright is being held on charges of cannabis possession, possession of cocaine with intent to sell, manufacture or deliver, possession of the drug flakka, battery on a specified employee, resisting/obstruction without violence, and probation violation, among other charges. He’s being held without bond and it wasn’t immediately clear whether he had obtained legal representation.

XXXTentacion was shot and killed outside of a motorcycle dealership in Broward County, Florida on June 18th. According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, Michael Boatwright is one of the two armed suspects who confronted the rapper outside Riva Motorsports before he was gunned down. Police believe four people in total were involved.

22-year-old Robert Allen was also identified by investigators as a person of interest in connection with the killing of the 20-year-old rapper after he was spotted on surveillance video at the motorcycle in Pompano Beach were XXX was shopping before he was murdered. Allen is still wanted, along with another unnamed suspect.

Boatwright’s arrest came a few weeks after 22-year-old Dedrick Williams was arrested and booked for first-degree murder, however, police have said that he is not one of the men who actually shot XXXTentacion.

The four men involved in the shooting death of XXXTentacion have been indicted by a Florida grand jury, and police are asking for help finding two of them who are still at large.

According to Broward County sheriff’s deputies, the 20-year-old rapper (real name: Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy) was shot and killed on June 18th in an apparent robbery attempt as he was living RIVA Motorsports in Deerfield Beach, Florida.

Two men, Dedrick Williams and Michael Boatright, both aged 22, have been arrested on charges of murder and armed robbery in connection with the attack, while two other men, identified as 20-year-old Trayvon Newsome and 22-year-old Robert Allen, remain at large and are wanted by police. All four of the men were indicted on Wednesday, July 18th.

Broward County sheriff’s deputies said Boatwright and Newsome were armed when they confronted Onfroy in broad daylight and they were the ones who actually pulled the trigger and fatally shot him, ending his life. Boatwright was charged with first-degree murder on July 10th. He had been in jail since July 5th on charges unrelated to the shooting, deputies said.

Dedrick Williams was also arrested in connection with the killing days after it occurred and is being held on bond. He is believed to have had an “active part” in Onfroy’s death, deputies said in his arrest warrant.

The Miami Herald detailed the June 18th incident that led to XXXTentacion’s shooting death:

Before Pompano Beach rapper XXXTentacion swung by Deerfield Beach’s Riva Motorsports to look at motorcycles on June 18, he stopped at a Bank of America branch to take out $50,000 in stacks of $100 bills.

That $50,000 was in the Louis Vuitton bag that gunmen stole when they fatally shot XXXTentacion as he and a friend tried to drive out of Riva’s parking lot, according to an arrest warrant.

The warrant says Allen was seen on surveillance video at Riva with Williams minutes before the robbery. Also, the warrant says Allen was with Boatwright and Tony Robinson, Williams’ close friend, when Robinson rented the 2017 Dodge Journey detectives say blocked XXXTentacion’s BMW as he left Riva’s parking lot. Arrest warrants say witnesses and surveillance cameras saw two gunmen jump out and take the Louis Vuitton bag, then take XXXTentacion’s life.

As described in Boatwright’s arrest warrant, investigators followed a Dedrick Williams trail to the indicted quartet. Williams’ arrest warrant said Riva staff recognized him by his heavily tattooed face as a regular customer, and Riva’s surveillance cameras spotted him in the store buying a black mask beforehand while wearing idiosyncratic orange sandals seen on his Facebook and Instagram accounts.

(Boatwright’s warrant said Williams originally denied being at Riva on June 18, but changed his story when detectives told him of the store’s near-omniscient surveillance camera system).

The warrant also says Tony Robinson, so tight with Williams that she often says she’s Williams’ sister, rented the Dodge Journey from Miramar resident Tanisha Clark on June 17 for $60 via the Turo app. Robinson told detectives she let Allen have the car and never saw it again.

She told cops that the next day, June 18, she got a call that Newsome had wrecked the Dodge Journey. That crash, a hit and run at 3100 NW 19th St. in Fort Lauderdale, happened three hours after the robbery. Fort Lauderdale police identified Newsome as the driver.

When BSO detectives hit Williams’ car and home with search warrants, Boatwright’s arrest warrant claims, they found the orange sandals, a live .22 caliber round of the same brand as the casings found around the BMW and a loaded .38 caliber gun. They also found $800 of clothing bought at Just for Sports in Fort Lauderdale on June 19.

Williams’ babysitter told police when Williams came home on June 18, Williams paid him with a single $100 bill.

On Williams’ cellphone, the Boatwright warrant says, police found a June 18 video of Williams “dancing with a large amount of $100 bills which he throws out on the floor in front of him” and a June 19 video of “a person sitting in the driver’s seat of a vehicle holding a large amount of 100 dollar bills in both hands. This clear video shows that the person depicted in the video is Dedrick Williams, not Robert Allen as first believed.”

On Boatwright’s cellphone, the warrant says, cops found photos of Boatwright taken June 18 with “a large amount of $100 bills fanned out in front of him” and one in which he and Newsome were “holding a large amount of $100 bills.”

Also on Boatwright’s phone: On June 29, he searched for information on “accessory to murder.”

Anyone with any information about Trayvon Newsome and Robert Allen’s whereabouts has been asked to contact the BSO homicide detectives John Curcio or Walt Foster at (954) 321-4210.

Those who wish to remain anonymous are asked to contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or online at www.browardcrimestoppers.org. Anonymous tips that lead to an arrest may be eligible for a reward of up to $3,000.

Allen, who was indicted on first-degree murder and armed robbery charges last week along with his three accomplices—Dedrick Williams, Michael Boatwright and Trayvon Newsome—was booked into the Dodge County Jail and was extradited to Broward County early Friday (Jul. 27).

Dedrick Williams and Michael Boatwright are currently in custody in Broward County while Trayvon Newsome, who cops have named as one of the “trigger men” in XXX’s murder, is still at large.

Robert Allen was initially identified by police as a person of interest after he was captured on surveillance video outside RIVA Motorsports, the motorcycle dealership where XXXTentacion was moments before his murder.

Allen was also named in a felony warrant charging him with flakka possession, carrying a concealed firearm and probation violation, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

Shakayla Denson & Je’Hyrah Daniels: Mom Charged With Murder After Throwing 4-Year-Old Daughter in River

A 26-year-old mother was charged with murder after killing her 4-year-old daughter by throwing her in a river and letting her drown, police said.

According to witnesses, Shakayla Denson waded into the Hillsborough River with her daughter, Je’Hyrah Daniels on Thursday, August 2nd. Roughly halfway across the river, she tossed the child and waded out. Initial reports had said that Denson allegedly threw the 4-year-old girl off a bridge, but authorities later confirmed that Denson waded in the river before tossing the child into it.

Tampa Police Chief Brian Dugan confirmed the details in a news conference Friday morning, describing the girl’s death as “quite frankly, tragic, chaotic and just downright unbelievable, all at the same time.”

“There are much more questions than there are answers,” Chief Dugan said. “It’s a completely tragic event. It’s a crazy world we live in.”

Here’s what you need to know about Shakayla Denson and Je’Hyrah Daniels:

Jakayla Denson is accused of tossing her struggling and screaming child, Je’Hyrah Daniels, into a river.

People who witnessed this tragic incident firsthand say that they saw the little girl struggling and heard her screaming before her mother tossed her in the river.

According to a report from the Tampa Bay Times:

Along the banks, passersby turned and stared, telling police later Thursday that they watched the woman drag her daughter from a car, across the pavement and grass, up to the edge — and then into — the Hillsborough River.

The woman held the 4-year-old to her chest, witnesses said, and began to scream, too. She waded deeper. When the dark water reached her shoulders, the mother let go. As the little girl floated away, witnesses said they saw her head and hands rise into view. Then she disappeared.

Tampa police Chief Brian Dugan received the call about 4 p.m. and he couldn’t believe what he was hearing. “I kept thinking, well maybe it’s a bag of garbage,” Dugan said. “Maybe somebody didn’t see what they thought they saw.”

Rescue divers went into the river at 4:16 p.m. and within minutes, they pulled 4-year-old Je’Hyrah Daniels out of the water. She was pronounced dead at 4:49 by doctors at St. Joseph’s hospital.

The doctors told police Je’Hyrah likely drowned, but no one would know for sure until an autopsy was completed by the medical examiner.

“It’s the craziest world that we live in at times,” Chief Dugan said. “The child…is unfortunately now dead. The mom is in custody. Right now we are sorting through and trying to get some answers…we’re still trying to piece this whole thing together.”

Witnesses said Shakayla Denson was acting strangely before the incident, counting out loud and running down the street “wearing only a bra and black pants and no shoes.”

Witnesses said Denson was acting bizarrely before and after throwing her daughter into the river.

Eddie Camacho, who owns a business near the river, told the Tampa Bay Times that he saw Denson running up and down the street wearing only a bra and black pants and no shoes in the rain. He said he watched her run across the street and into a parking lot where she was checking car door handles. When he went out to ask her what she was doing, she ran into the store and into the back storage area.

Osama Jamil, an employee of the store, was helping customers at the counter but went to the back to investigate. “It was weird,” Jamil said. “She was back there, washing her face. She was counting out loud, 19, 20, 21. I went back there to see if she was all right. She didn’t look right.”

Jamil asked Denson if she was OK, and she stopped washing her face and ran past him and then outside behind the building.

At a nearby apartment complex, Shawanda Smith said she saw a skinny black woman with messy hair, wearing a bra and leggings, throw her stuff into the back of a stranger’s Buick and lock herself in. The owner banged on the window until she ran away.

Two hours before Je’Hyrah died, a neighbor saw her playing barefoot outside her apartment building. She was later spotted outside an auto repair shop about a half mile away from her home and her mother was seen yanking her in between parked cars.

The shop’s owner, Abdelrazzaq Abdelrazz, saw Denson looking into windows before she shoved the girl into the back seat of a gray Nissan Altima and then hopped in herself, finding keys inside. She locked the doors.

“What are you doing, ma’am?” Abdelrazz recalled asking her. “Open the door!” He then tried to put himself in front of the car to stop her from leaving, but she pulled the car away and rolled over his foot as she drove off.

She then drove to the river where she committed the disturbing act.

Two witnesses told police they saw Denson as she “forcefully removed Je’Hyrah from the back seat of the Altima by the arm.”

They said Je’Hyrah was “screaming loudly and not cooperating” as Denson pulled her out of the car. Denson then went into the Hillsborough River while holding both of Je’Hyrah’s arms until the water reached her shoulders.

Vicki Walker gave the above photo of the mother in the river to ABC Action News. She told the TV station that she saw the woman in the water, but didn’t see the child, “which was very odd,” she said. “I’ve lived here for years, I’ve never seen anybody in the river.”

Walker said that the woman was by herself and that she watched her walk out of the river onto the bank, where she said the woman sat for a while. “There’s a part of me that’s like ‘oh my gosh, why didn’t I run over there? Why didn’t I talk to this person? Why didn’t I find out what was going on?’ I had no idea,” Walker added.

Police said they “quickly located the woman suspected of tossing the child in the water. She was walking nearby and was taken into custody.”

Denson had created a GoFundMe for her daughter who had been diagnosed with autism.

About 9 months ago, Shakayla Denson created a GoFundMe page titled “Life with je’hyrah.” It featured a photo of her and Je’Hyrah with the following caption:

“My daughter was recently diagnose with autism spectrum, my goal is to start saving for therapy equipment, and also for je’hyrah’s future. I’ve also gathered interest in reaching out to others living with autism, and would enjoy providing strategies and resources I’ve learn to help them get threw the day. Thanks and i appreciate it.”

Denson had set a goal of $1,500, but received no donations. The page has since been deleted and was replaced by one started by the girl’s father Jedaric Daniels to help cover funeral costs.

He wrote:

“Je’hyrah was a happy 4 year who’s life was taken away from her so suddenly! I am reaching out to ask for help with burying my only babygirl. In my entire 37 years of living, I have never endured so much hurt in pain. Je’hyrah was diagnosed with Autisum so she required a little more love and attention. I loved her with every bone in my body. Please help me lay Je’hyrah to rest!! She deserves a proper burial. NO AMOUNT IS TO SMALL!!!”

According to her Facebook page, Denson worked for a healthcare company and studied to be a registered nurse. She also has a criminal record, according to court docs.

On Facebook, Kayla Denson referred to herself as “just a child of god, a growing [woman] finding her way.”

On another page, with the same profile picture as the first, she wrote that she worked at WellCare Health Plans and studied to become a Registered Nurse at Hillsborough Community College.

According to Florida court records, Denson also has a criminal record, which includes arrests for theft and criminal traffic cases, such as driving with a suspended license. The theft case dated back to 2016 and was a second-degree misdemeanor.

A candlelight vigil was held Saturday night (Aug. 4) to remember 4-year-old Je’Hyrah Daniels. Nearly 100 people gathered near the grassy bank of the Hillsborough River to remember Je’Hyrah.

“She loved French fries. She loved to eat French fries,” said Adeesha Hailey, a friend of the family who has known them for over 40 years. Hailey said she was still trying to understand why the little girl is gone.

“She wasn’t a monster,” Hailey said. “She didn’t beat her baby. Nothing like that. We just need to know what was going on. Something had to be going on to leave her baby out in the water and float away. We don’t know what made her take her out there and leave her and just walk away. We don’t know.”

Tragedy Daniels, a cousin of Shakayla Denson, said: “Right now, we are feeling upset and trying to do our best to get through it and find support for each other and the family. Things are just said all over but deep down, we know what we felt, what she felt, and that is not her and we got to stand by her and support her the best way we can and that is what we are here to do. And we are going to start by today, by showing support, for my little cousin and trying to keep the love going.”

A child welfare report stated that Je’Hyrah Daniels was non-verbal and Denson seemed “overwhelmed and tired” from caring for her. The report also said that Je’Hyrah was fixated on water.

About six weeks prior to Je’Hyrah’s drowning death, child protection workers fielded a report from someone who claimed Shakayla Denson wasn’t properly caring for her daughter, the Tampa Bay Times reported. According to the caller, Je’Hyrah was non-verbal and Denson seemed “overwhelmed and tired” from taking care of her.

A Hillsborough County Sheriff’s child-protective investigator wrote in a record of the initial report: “It seems like the mother is upset that she has these disabilities and (she) is not the baby she dreamed of having.”

On June 19th, someone called child services to report that Je’Hyrah had wandered off while visiting her great-grandmother’s home and walked to a nearby park. The tipster said they were concerned that Denson “is always tired and sleeping,” according to the report.

“The mother is easily distracted and doesn’t show much attention toward Je’Hyrah,” the tipster stated. “She just lets her run around and do what she wants. She doesn’t seem to have the maturity to address the special needs that Je’Hyrah has.”

During a June 20th visit to the home, an investigator found that Je’Hyrah seemed happy and healthy. The report stated that Je’Hyrah and her mother lived in a two bedroom, one bathroom apartment that was equipped with a security system and had no hazards. The mother and daughter also had a small dog, which the investigator said appeared to be friendly.

Denson told the investigator that she was shocked that someone had reported her and described herself as a great mother, but admitted that it was difficult taking care of a special-needs child as a single parent. She said she and Je’Hyrah’s father were not together, but he pays child support when he can, the report stated.

Denson denied that Je’Hyrah had ever wandered outside of their home, “but she is very preoccupied with water and always wants to jump in no matter where they are,” the report stated.

The investigator wrote in the report that Je’Hyrah seemed happy and energetic. She didn’t have any marks or injuries and responded to basic commands. The report noted that as the investigator and Denson walked through the residence, the girl would follow them.

The investigator said Denson told them her daughter’s autism diagnosis had changed her life. She said the girl couldn’t speak and would often throw tantrums. She said she kept the alarm in her apartment on to let her know if Je’Hyrah ever tried to wander outside. She said relatives helped care for her daughter, but she feared leaving her with others because they might not know how to deal with her behavior.

Denson said she worked 3 to 4 days a week at McDonald’s but was looking for a work from home job so that she could spend more time with Je’Hyrah. She said her daughter had received some behavioral therapy and she was working on getting her enrolled in the Florida Autism Center of Excellence (FACE).

“She denied that there is anything wrong with her that would prevent her from being able to take care of the child,” the report stated. “She denied that she is too immature to care for the child.”

The investigator also met with Denson’s sister, who sometimes helped watch Je’Hyrah. The aunt said her niece did try to wander sometimes, but Denson was good about supervising her, and she had no concerns for her well-being.

Two of Denson’s neighbors also said they had no concerns for the girl’s safety. The investigator noted in their report that Denson, who had two prior arrests for failure to appear in court, showed “no pattern of violent, impulsive, or concerning behavior.”

Investigators checked in again with Je’Hyrah’s grandmother in late July, and she reported that things were going well. By then, Je’Hyrah was linked with the Center for Autism and Related Disorders, where she had been learning to communicate by pointing to pictures in a book. She had also been enrolled in the FACE school.

The investigation was closed on July 31st, concluding that there was no evidence of maltreatment, abuse or neglect. Two days later, Denson carried her screaming daughter to the Hillsborough River and left her to drown.

Denson was officially charged with murder in the first degree, aggravated child abuse and grand theft auto at her first court appearance on Friday, August 3rd. She was denied bond.

The fourth and final suspect in XXXTentacion’s murder case has finally been arrested.

Nearly two months after his involvement in XXXTentacion’s shooting death, 20-year-old Trayvon Newsome was arrested in Broward County, Florida on Tuesday (Aug. 7), according to online jail records.

Newsome was booked on two charges: murder in the first degree and robbery with a deadly weapon. He turned himself in through his lawyer after being at large for several weeks, according to the Broward County Sheriff’s Department.

Investigators believe Newsome was one of the two trigger men in XXX’s June 18th murder. The other alleged gunman, 22-year-old Michael Boatwright, and the remaining two murder suspects—22yo Dedrick Williams and 22yo Robert Allen—are also behind bars.

According to documents obtained by Complex, Newsome pleaded not guilty to his charges and also filed for a demand for discovery, which is standard procedure and means the state of Florida must provide any and all evidence related to the case to his attorney.

With Newsome’s not guilty plea, all four of the suspects have affirmed their innocence.

Additionally, Michael Boatwright will reportedly undergo a mental examination before proceeding to trial, and if he is found unfit to go to trial, he could be involuntarily hospitalized and receive prescribed treatment.

On June 18th, XXXTentacion withdrew $50,000 in cash from the bank and put it in a Louis Vuitton bag. As he was leaving RIVA Motorsports in Deerfield Beach, FL, the four suspects attempted to rob him, and when he refused to hand the bag over, they shot and killed him and ran off with the money.

Broward Sheriff Scott Israel called the incident a “tragic shooting” and vowed to “bring those who did it to justice.”

XXXTentacion’s family, friend and fans should be able to rest a little easier now knowing that all four of his alleged killers are now behind bars with murder charges.

A Houston, Texas man was arrested on murder charges after he killed his two young children to spite his wife.

According to news reports, Jean Pierre Ndossoka fatally stabbed his 8-year-old son and 1-year-old daughter at his home on Saturday (Aug. 4). The reports state that Ndossoka slit his children’s necks.

The children’s mother and Jean Pierre’s wife, Sabine Ntongo, found the kids dead after receiving a phone call from her husband saying that he killed their children and “left her a present.” Ndossoka had already fled the scene by the time Ntongo arrived at the apartment.

On Sunday (Aug. 5), Ndossoka was found with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in Pasadena, southeast of Houston. He admitted to police that he violently murdered his own children and told them that his 8-year-old son, Marcell Ndossoka, begged for his life, telling him “Daddy, I’m sorry” while his 1-year-old daughter, Anna-Belle Faith Ndossoka “just kept crying.”

Ndossoka was charged with two counts of capital murder and could face the death penalty if convicted.

Here’s what you need to know about Jean Pierre Ndossoka and his disturbing act of violence towards his young children:

Jean Pierre Ndossoka’s 8-year-old son Marcel told him “daddy, I’m sorry” before his throat was cut.

Sabine Ntongo and Jean Pierre Ndossoka’s two children, Anna-Belle and Marcel, in a recent photo.

Last Saturday (Aug. 4), Jean Pierre Ndossoka’s two young children were dropped off his apartment for their visitation. Ndossoka called his wife, Sabine Ntongo, multiple times that day while she was at work. At some point during the afternoon, he allegedly called her and told her had killed the children and “left her a present.”

The Houston Chronicle reports that Ndossoka instructed Ntongo to use the key under the doormat to let herself in. She rushed to the apartment. When she arrived, she saw the bodies of her two kids on the bed with their throats slit and called 911. Ndossoka was nowhere to be found.

Not too long after putting out a vehicle description, police were able to pick Ndossoka up in Pasadena just a few hours later around 1 a.m. He was suffering from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. At first, he told police he didn’t remember what happened, but when he was questioned at the hospital, he admitted to doing “something bad” and claimed to have high blood pressure.

Police said Ndossoka said he had choked the children to death before later admitting to using a knife and leaving a note. He eventually explained what really happened. He said he had slit his children’s throats as they begged for their lives.

The man said his 8-year-old son, Marcel Ndossoka, said to him, “Daddy, I’m sorry” in the moments before his throat was slit. The boy’s 1-year-old sister, Ndossoka’s daughter, Anna-Belle Faith Ndossoka, “just kept crying,” the man allegedly told police.

Ndossoka called his wife, Sabine Ntongo, to tell her that he had killed their children and “left her a present.”

Sabine Ntongo is comforted by a family member after finding her children stabbed to death in their father’s apartment in Houston.

Sabine Ntongo, who owns a hair braiding business in Houston, said her husband called her several times on Saturday while she was working. She had dropped her children off with her husband, Jean Pierre Ndossoka just a few hours earlier.

When she finally answered one of Ndossoka’s called last Saturday around 3:30 p.m., he told her what he had done. Ndossoka said he had killed their children and had “left a present for her” at his apartment, court documents said, and he had left a key under the doormat so that she could let herself in.

Ntongo found her children’s lifeless bodies in the apartment’s back bedroom. Their throats had been cut and a bloody knife was laying on the floor. She called 911 and police later found her husband in Pasadena with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police said they believe he tried to kill himself, but was unsuccessful.

During questioning, Ndossoka admitted to the horrific crime before revealing his son Marcel’s haunting last words: “Daddy, I’m sorry.” He said his daughter Anna-Belle Faith “just kept crying” as he cut her throat.

Ndossoka told Ntongo in a handwritten note that she would “carry the burden” of her children’s souls and he planned to die with them.

When Sabine Ntongo found her children’s dead bodies at her husband’s apartment, she saw a note written in French by her estranged husband.

Ndossoka wrote in the letter that Ntongo would have to “carry the burden of our souls, me and my two children.” Ndossoka also allegedly wrote, “I am dying with my two children.”

He apparently intended for the incident to be a murder-suicide because police found him miles away from Houston in Pasadena in his truck with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

When investigators first interviewed Ndossoka from his hospital bed, he at first claimed to not remember what had happened in his apartment. After being pressed by investigations, he finally admitted he had done “something bad,” court records said.

When police asked him what happened, Ndossoka motioned towards his neck. He then recounted his children’s final words. “Daddy, I’m sorry,” he said his son Marcel pleaded with him as his daughter Anna-Belle “just kept crying,” he said.

Ndossoka and Ntongo have been married for 6 years and emigrated to the U.S. together from Congo.

Jean Pierre Ndossoka and his wife Sabine Ntongo were estranged at the time of the murders.

The couple married six years ago, and had recently emigrated together from Congo to the U.S., where they both became naturalized citizens. But family members told local CBS affiliate WLKY that Ndossoka was verbally abusive.

It isn’t clear if Ndossoka and Ntongo were in the process of divorcing, but they were separated with Ntongo being left with the children. Custody then became a new issue for the couple because Ndossoka wanted to see his children, 1-year-old Anna-Belle and 8-year-old Marcel, every day.

So to spite her, he did something that he knew would hurt her to her core. He brutally killed their children by slitting their throats while they were in his custody. “I am dying with my two children,” Ndossoka allegedly wrote in a letter Ntongo found at the apartment after she discovered the bodies of her children.

The hand-scribbled note, written in French, also told Ntongo she would have to “carry the burden of our souls, me and my children.” But Ndossoka was unsuccessful in his suicide attempt, because he was later found in his truck with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Ntongo’s cousin, Patrice Nsuary, told WLKY he had recently counseled the couple about their deteriorating relationship. “I came down here to talk to both of them about the marriage. In Africa, we talk to both the man and wife,” Nsuary said. “I spoke to him yesterday.”

Nsuary also said he had seen Ndossoka and his son at the grocery store the day before the murders and “he seemed fine.” Another distraught family member told the news station they had no idea why Ntongo would kill his kids, especially in such a brutal manner “We don’t understand,” they said. “It’s just unbelievable. We don’t know why.”

XXXTentacion’s Alleged Killer Reportedly Begging Judge to Let Him Out of Jail

One of the men allegedly involved in the murder of XXXTentacion wants to be allowed to post bail so that he can take care of his pregnant fiancée.

All four of the suspects in XXXTentacion’s murder case have been apprehended by police, and although all four men have pleaded not guilty to the crimes they’ve been charged with, they’re still being held in custody without bail. One of the suspects is reportedly begging the judge to allow him to post bail and be released from jail until the trial begins.

According to legal documents obtained by TMZ, Robert Allen wants the judge to let him post bail because he claims that there is no proof he committed a crime. The reason he wants to be released from jail, according to TMZ, is because his fiancée is currently pregnant with their child and he wants to be able to take care of her.

Allen reportedly told the judge that if he’s let out of jail, he promises to go back to work for a lawn care business in Broward County, Florida where he has lived with his mother his whole life.

Allen was the third of four murder suspects arrested in July after U.S. Marshals tracked him down at his sister’s house in Eastman, Georgia. He was originally wanted by police as a person of interest after he was spotted on surveillance footage outside of the motorcycle dealership with XXX was shortly before he was gunned down.

It’s interesting that this Robert Allen guy wants to be released from jail so that he can take care of his pregnant fiancée, considering XXX’s girlfriend was about four months pregnant when he was killed.

Man Shot During Argument Over Who Should Play Aretha Franklin in Her Biopic

Police say an argument over who should star as Aretha Franklin in a movie about her life led to a shooting at a barbershop in Suffolk, Virginia.

According to WTRK-TV, last Thursday (Aug. 16), two men—44-year-old Michael Hatton and 47-year-old Tony Lundy, had a disagreement about whether or not Halle Berry played or would play Aretha Franklin in her upcoming biopic.

The fight turned physical, and once the two men were outside, Hatton pulled out a gun and shot Lundy at least once, police said.

Witnesses inside a business near the barbershop recalled hearing someone shouting “No, no, no!” before hearing about 4-5 gunshots. Both men were reportedly taken to local hospitals, with Lundy in critical condition.

Police said after Hatton was released from the hospital, he was taken to Western Tidewater Regional Jail, where he was held without bond. Lundy had surgery that night and was said to be “recovering and resting in the ICU” as of Friday (Aug. 17).

According to Hatton’s arrest report, he was charged with discharging a firearm in a public place resulting in injury, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, assault during the commission of a felony, and malicious wounding with victim permanently impaired.

Aretha Franklin died on Thursday, August 16th following a private battle with pancreatic cancer.

Halle Berry was the “Respect” singer’s first personal choice to play her in her biopic, but Berry reportedly turned down the role because she didn’t think she was the right fit for the role due to her lacking the ability to sing.

“I can’t sing!” Berry said in 2011. “If I could carry a tune, I’d consider it. Someone should tell Aretha that I can’t do her justice.”

The role eventually went to Jennifer Hudson, but the Queen of Soul made it clear that she wanted Berry to play her.

“[Halle Berry] was my first choice. Everything’s subject to negotiation, and she shouldn’t underestimate her own talent,” Franklin said. “There are a number of other leading ladies out there that can definitely handle the role. I never expected Halle to sing. She’s an actress, not a singer. Many actors have portrayed vocalists by lip-synching to the artists’ original recordings.”

While dozens of gamers were attending a Madden NFL 19 video game tournament in Jacksonville, Florida on Sunday (Aug. 26) a gunman opened fire, killing two people and wounding nine others.

That lone gunman has been identified as 24-year-old David Katz, a Maryland resident who was described as a “disgruntled” gamer who had participated in the Madden tournament.

Katz, who has used the names Bread, mrslicedbread, ravenschamp and ravenschamp2012 in Madden competitions, fatally shot himself at the scene.

Here’s what you need to know about David Katz and the shooting:

The gunman lost in the Madden tournament and “targeted a few people” before fatally shooting himself, according to witnesses, who also said he was acting “weird.”

The mass shooting happened around 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Jacksonville Landing, where the Madden tournament was being hosted, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. The GLHF Gaming Bar inside Chicago Pizza was hosting a satellite tournament for a nationwide EA Sports-sanctioned Madden NFL 19 competition that will culminate in a Las Vegas event with $125,000 on the line. The Jacksonville tournament, which started Saturday, was the first qualifier to be held in the Madden 19 Classic.

A witness told the Los Angeles Times that the shooter, later identified as 24-year-old David Katz, had played in the tournament earlier and lost. Steven “Steveyj” Javaruski, another competitor in the tournament, told the Times that the gunman came back to the event with a gun and “targeted a few people” before fatally shooting himself.

Another witness, Javaris Long, told the Tampa Bay Times that the gunman was “nerdy” and became angry after he lost, so he went to his car, got his gun, came back into the building and “started blasting everybody.” One source told Fox News that Katz “reacted to losing with violence.”

Drini Gjoka, another one of the gamers, who was struck with a bullet, tweeted: “The tourney just got shot up. I’m [leaving] and never coming back. I am literally so lucky. The bullet hit my thumb. Worst day of my life. I will never take anything for granted ever again. Life can be cut short in a second.” Just moments before that, he tweeted: “won my first single elim game 16-9. Off to Round of 32.”

Police said Katz acted alone in the shooting, contrary to initial reports that there may have been another suspect.

The winner of Sunday’s tournament in Jacksonville was set to win $5,000 along with a chance to advance to Las Vegas where the prize pool was over $100,000. Katz was defeated by two players during the two-day Jacksonville tournament, which started with pool play on Saturday and continued with a single elimination bracket on Sunday, a gamer told WJAX-TV.

Dennis “Evil Ken” Alston, one of the gamers who beat Katz, said he tried to shake his hand yesterday after their game, but Katz stared blankly at him without saying anything. Alston, who has more than a decade of experience in the Madden world, said Katz was acting “weird” all weekend, and was wearing the same clothes on Sunday that he had worn the day before.

Alston said he and the other player who beat Katz were not injured in the shooting, but he said he believed Katz seemed to be targeting certain individuals.

A Madden Twitch live stream recorded the horrific attack; gunshots and screams were heard as two competitors played a game.

Chilling live stream video footage showing the moment the deadly shooting occurred surfaced on social media immediately following the incident.

The tournament was streamed live via Twitch, an online network that attracts tens of millions of visitors who watch footage of other people playing video games. On one twitch live stream video, more than a dozen gunshots can clearly be heard as well as terrified gamers screaming and crying out. The video does not show the shooter.

The video shows two players competing during the Madden tournament. As they talk about a touchdown run by one of the players, a popping sound can be heard. Then several more gunshots and someone screaming can be heard in the footage. “Oh f***, what’d he shoot me with?” one victim yells out in the video. That person’s identity wasn’t clear.

The sound of controllers dropping to the floor can be heard as several more shots continue to right out. Then, people can be heard scrambling to find safety as many others scream. After a few seconds, the shooting starts back up along with the sound of more people screaming.

You can watch the video here [WARNING – DISTURBING CONTENT]:

Fans watching the video reported seeing a red dot on one of the players’ chest right before the shots rang out. It was later confirmed that player’s name was Eli Clayton, known by his gamer handle “Trueboy,” and he was one of the two shooting victims who died.

Eli “Trueboy” Clayton and Taylor “Spotmeplzzz” Robertson were killed in the shooting. Nine others were injured by gunfire, and two were injured while trying to flee the area.

The shooting sent at least 11 people to area hospitals, some with gunshot wounds, according to WJAX-TV. Nine people were injured by gunfire, and two were injured trying to flee the Jacksonville Landing. Taylor Poindexter, of Chicago, reportedly injured her ankle while escaping.

Three people were treated at Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, hospital spokesman Pete Mobeg told CNN, and all three were in stable condition. Meanwhile, University of Florida Health said it was treating six patients, with five of them in stable condition and one in serious condition with a gunshot wound to the chest, UF Health said in a statement. Police later said all of the victims were stable.

One victim, 25-year-old Timothy Anselimo of Brooklyn, a popular gamer known as “OLarry,” was shot three times, his mother shared on Twitter shortly after the incident. She asked for prayers for her son.

She also tweeted pictures of her son and his gamer friends who she said survived by the grace of God. She posted a photo of Florida Gov. Rick Scott visiting her son in the hospital as well.

“Devastated,” Anselimo tweeted Monday. “No words. Surgery in the morning. Thanks to all who reached out.”

Anselimo is also a member of the Milwaukee Bucks’ NBA 2K video game team.

Another gamer, “DubDotDUBBY,” said on Twitter that a bullet had grazed his head, adding that he was “traumatized and devastated.”

Eli Clayton, known by his gamer handle “Trueboy,” was identified by friends and the Los Angeles Times as one of the victims who died in the horrific shooting.

Clayton was a 22-year-old from Woodland Hills, California. He identified himself as a Madden Pro player in his Instagram bio and was a Jacksonville Jaguars fan.

Instagram Photo

Clayton also posted about how excited he was to appear on ESPN and how it was a dream since he was 5 years old.

Back in February, he wrote: “Madden has really changed my life and a game that I used to play for fun is now a big part of my life. Just so blessed to have an opportunity like this. Just such a crazy feeling knowing that tons of people log on and see my face on a Madden NFL game. Unreal.”

Instagram Photo

Clayton tweeted on August 20th that he had originally planned not to attend the Jacksonville event, but changed his mind.

The second victim who died in the horrific shooting was identified as 27-year-old Taylor Robertson of Ballard, West Virginia. He gamed under the name “Spotmeplzzz” and was a fan of the Tennessee Titans.

On his Twitter account, @spotmeplzzz, Robertson identified himself as a father, husband and a pro Madden player. He wrote in an August 20th tweet: “Excited for some live madden this weekend in Jacksonville. Time to chase that second belt.”

Robertson died exactly three months shy of what would have been his 28th birthday on November 26th. He and Eric “Trueboy” Clayton were Facebook friends.

David Katz won a Madden tournament in Buffalo, NY in 2017.

David Katz, playing under the username Bread, won the Buffalo Bills Madden Club tournament in February 2017, according to the EA Sports website. He took home $10,000 for winning that event. You can watch video footage from one of the games from that 2017 tournament below:

The EA Sports website says:

“In what some are calling the most exciting moment in all the 2017 NFL Club Series Championships, David ‘Bread’ Katz won with a walk-off victory by completing an unbelievable pass as time expired to be crowned Buffalo Bills Champion. The crowd at 716 Food and Sport in Buffalo, NY was amazed with the clutch execution in the 4th quarter!”

Katz played another game in the Madden Club Series Championship in Burbank, California in April 2017. He lost that quarterfinals game against another player named Misery.

Katz said in the 2017 video that he typically played Madden NFL on PS4. He was at times ranked among the top players in Madden Ultimate Team, however, social media posts from fellow gamers posted before and after the shooting show he had a reputation for cheating and shady play, including intentionally making games “glitchy” to his advantage.

Katz would also post game strategies and tips on YouTube, Twitch, and elsewhere, including a now-defunct website called “The Gamers Lab.”

Disturbing old tweets about suicide on “The Gamers Lab” twitter account from 2017 led many social media users to connect Katz to the site, saying he was the one tweeter, but The Gamers Lab tweeted Sunday that he didn’t operate the account: “Fyi this was not HIS account. I think he may have posted some youtube videos on the madden tips channel years ago. Thoughts and prayers to the victims and the [families]/friends.”

Police and federal agents swarmed Katz’ family home in Baltimore, Maryland after the shooting.

Police said Katz was a native of Baltimore, Maryland, and may have stayed in a North Florida hotel Saturday night.

Baltimore Police spokesman T.J. Smith told the Baltimore Sun, “we are assisting our partner law enforcement agencies with some information that has led authorities to Baltimore.”

After the shooting, the FBI and Baltimore Police raided his home and interviewed family members, the agencies said on social media.

Neighbors of Katz’ home, where he stayed with his parents in the 1200 block of Harbor Island Walk near Baltimore’s Inner Harbor, said they rarely saw or talked to him.

EA Sports, the game developer of Madden 19, released the following statement immediately after the shooting: “We are aware of an incident at a sanctioned Madden Championship Series competition in Jacksonville,” the company said. “We are working with authorities to gather facts at this stage. This is a horrible incident and our deepest sympathies go out to all involved.”

In a later statement, Electronic Arts, EA Sports’ parent company, called the shooting a “senseless act of violence that we strongly condemn” and said their “most heartfelt sympathies go out to the families of the victims whose lives were taken… and those were injured.” The statement continued: “All of us at Electronic Arts are devastated by this horrific event, and we also join the community in thanking the first responders who were quickly on the scene.”

It isn’t clear how Katz was able to sneak a gun into the gaming bar hosting the Madden tournament. A motive was also not known.

Police haven’t commented about how Katz acquired the gun used in the shooting, nor have they revealed how he got into the gaming bar with the gun and whether or not there was any security, including metal detectors and/or guards, at the event.

Police did say, however, that Katz carried out the shooting with a handgun, and a semi-automatic weapon was also found at the scene. Jacksonville Sheriff Mike Williams said at a press conference that they were investigating whether Katz legally owned the weapon he used in the shooting.

Police located Katz’ vehicle near the scene and approached it with caution in case there were any explosives inside, WESH-TV reported. There were no reports of explosives being found in the car, but it wasn’t known whether any other evidence was found inside the vehicle.

Police would not comment about his motive, but Twitter users said Katz was upset about losing two games of Madden earlier in the tournament, and as mentioned earlier in this article, he refused to shake hands with the winner after at least one game.

Earlier Sunday, while Katz was competing in the tournament, a video showed an announcer introducing Katz while his face remained stoic.

“You are not going to see much emotion from our guy Bread,” the announcer said. “David Katz keeps to himself. He’s a man of business. He’s not here for the experience … he’s not here to make friends. He’s all business, he’s focused, and even to get him to open up to talk to you about anything, it’s like pulling teeth…”

Mugshot Madness: Anthony Charles Thomas Maxwell, Man Who Rushed Stage at Beyoncé & JAY-Z Concert, Arrested & Charged With Battery

Beyoncé and JAY-Z had a bit of a scare over the weekend when a man rushed the stage during their “On The Run II” concert in Atlanta.

As The Carters were leaving the stage following the first of two sold-out shows at Mercedes-Benz Stadium Saturday night (Aug. 25), a man was able to somehow hop on the stage and run after them.

Fortunately, the couple was unharmed, thanks to the help of their backup dancers and security detail, who quickly sprang into action and stopped the man, who was later identified as 26-year-old Anthony Charles Thomas Maxwell.

While Beyoncé and JAY-Z chose not to press charges against Maxwell—who lives in Marietta, Georgia and is originally from Colorado Springs, Colorado—that didn’t stop Atlanta police from charging him with disorderly conduct and aggravated battery after it was determined that he “made contact” with JAY-Z. He never made any contact with Beyoncé, TMZ reported.

A statement from the Atlanta Police Department read:

“As the Jay-Z and Beyonce concert was ending late Saturday night, a man later identified as Anthony Charles Thomas Maxwell (age 26) ran onto the stage and approached Jay-Z. He was quickly stopped by people who were with the performer. Atlanta Police arrived and issued the man a citation for disorderly conduct and released him.

“At the time, there was no evidence Maxwell had made contact with Jay-Z. Upon later investigation, officers were able to gather evidence showing Maxwell had, in fact, made contact with Jay-Z…Maxwell was treated for minor injuries on scene sustained when people around Jay-Z stopped him from further contact with the performer. No one else was injured as a result of this incident.”

Maxwell was taken into custody Sunday evening (Aug. 26) and transported to the Fulton County Jail, where he was booked and held on $5,000 bail. He was released Monday after posting bond.

Botham Shem Jean: Quick Facts About Man Accidentally Shot By Dallas Cop Who Entered Wrong Apartment

Botham Shem Jean has been identified as the man who was shot and killed by a white female Dallas police officer who authorities say accidentally entered Jean’s apartment thinking it was hers. The identity of the officer has not yet been released.

Police acknowledged in a statement that the cop was not in her apartment; she was in Jean’s, and she had absolutely no reason to be there. Authorities say she then shot him, possibly thinking he was an intruder.

Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall said at a press conference that investigators were working to obtain an arrest warrant charging the officer with manslaughter. Her name will be released once she is charged, Hall told reporters Friday afternoon.

The officer, who is not in custody, worked in patrol. Hall said when they first responded to the call they handled it as an “officer-involved shooting,” however, once more details were revealed, the circumstances changed, creating a “very unique situation.”

Here’s what you need to know:

The cop was in full uniform and had just finished her shift when she mistakenly walked into Botham Shem Jean’s apartment, police said.

The shooting occurred at an upscale apartment complex called South Side Flats not far from downtown Dallas, NBC reported.

Though police haven’t identified the officer yet, they did reveal some details relating to what happened. “On September 6, 2018 at about 9:59 p.m., an off-duty Dallas Police officer called police dispatch and said she was involved in a shooting at the apartments located at 1210 S. Lamar,” police wrote in an official report.

“Preliminary information suggests that the officer arrived home in full uniform after working a full shift,” the report continued. “The officer reported to the responding officers that she entered the victim’s apartment believing that it was her own. At some point, the officer fired her weapon striking the victim. Responding officers administered aid to the victim, a 26-year-old male, at the scene. The victim was then transported to the hospital and pronounced deceased.”

A blood draw was taken from the officer to test for drugs and alcohol, Police Chief Renee Hall said at a press conference. “We are in the process of obtaining a warrant based on the circumstances that we have right now,” Hall told reporters.

Though police did not identify Botham Shem Jean as the victim, the Dallas Morning News and relatives on social media confirmed it was him. A Morning News reporter asked police whether the officer in question mistakenly believed Jean was an intruder in his own apartment, but police didn’t give any details regarding that.

“I won’t go into that information right now,” Dallas police spokesman Sgt. Warren Mitchell told the newspaper. “I mean, we have not interviewed her, and like I said this is just a preliminary statement. We still have a lot to do in this investigation … This is all we can give you at this time.”

Hall said at a later press conference that the officer still had not been interviewed. She told reporters: “It’s not clear what interaction was between them, but at some point, she fired her weapon, striking the victim. She called 911, officers responded in about four minutes. Dallas Fire Rescue also responded and took Mr. Jean to the hospital, where he later died.

“At the very early stages of this investigation early indications were that we were dealing with an officer-involved shooting. However, as we continued the investigation it became clear we were dealing with much of what appears to be a very unique situation. Therefore, we have ceased handling it under our normal officer-involved shooting protocol.”

Hall said that because the officer was off duty when the shooting occurred, that changed it from being an officer-involved shooting investigation.

“At my request we are in the process of obtaining a warrant based on the circumstances that we have right now,” Hall said. “We have also invited the Texas Rangers to begin an independent investigation. They have just arrived a moment ago and they are currently being briefed. I’ve spoken with the Jean family, his sister, Alissa, specifically. My condolences have been given to them and we have reassured them that we are working diligently and we have invited an outside agency to investigate this.”

“Right now there are more questions than we have answers,” she added. “We understand the concerns of this community and that is why we are working as vigorously and meticulous as we can to ensure the integrity of this case and the integrity of the department is upheld. In doing so, we hope to bring understanding and clarity to the family.”

Hall said at a press conference, which you can watch above: “My condolences to the Botham Shem Jean family. We want to be and we will be as transparent in this investigation as we can be … We ask that you, this community and the media work alongside of us in this process.” She spoke briefly at the news conference and took limited questions before walking out as angry reporters shouted questions at her.

One of Jean’s family members told the St. Lucia Times that he lived in a gated community in Dallas and alleged that “the police officer’s key was found in the lock of the door of the apartment … after she tried unsuccessfully to open it.” Hall said at the press conference she doesn’t know whether the officer knew Jean.

Botham Shem Jean’s family is devastated over his death, with his uncle calling it “the worst day of my life thus far.”

Botham Shem Jean, whose nickname was “Bo,” originally hails from the Caribbean island of St. Lucia and comes from a prominent family.

According to the St. Lucia Times, Jean was the son of Allison Jean, described as a “former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Gender Relations and Sustainable Development” and Bertram Jean, who worked as a store supervisor for water and Sewerage Company Inc., known as WASCO.

His uncle, Ignatius Jean, is “Chief Executive Officer of the Caribbean Water and Sewerage Association Inc. (CAWASA) and former government Minister and Parliamentarian,” St. Lucia Times reported.

Jean’s mother, Allie Jean, told NBC News “he did no one any wrong.” She added, “Somebody has to be crazy not to realize that they walked into the wrong apartment. He’s a bachelor. Things are different inside.”

His sister, Alissa Charles-Findley, wrote on Facebook: “Just last week I was thinking of what to get you for your birthday, now I have to go pick out your casket. You will always be my baby brother. I love you with all of my heart Botham Shem Jean. Until we meet again my love.”

Jean’s uncle Earl Jean, who is a coach from St. Lucia, posted a photo tribute to his deceased nephew on Facebook. He said finding out his nephew was dead was “the worst day of [his] life thus far.” Read his full message below:

“My heart goes with you my boy…never thought this day would come ,wanted to be there for you always my boy …how can this nasty world take you away from me ….this is the worst day of my life thus far….uncle loves you so much …there goes Mr.botham shem Jean….iam lost for words…part of me has left! Gone with the Angel’s ….lord keep me sane”

He wrote in another post: “I love you to the moon and back…rest in eternal peace my baby”

Jean’s family members repeatedly expressed how proud they was of him on Facebook. In the caption of a photo of Jean wearing a suit and tie, one relative wrote: “This is my work of art – dedicated, committed, hard-working, intelligent – Vote Botham for President!”

Edmund Regis, General Manager of WASCO, told the St. Lucia Times that the company was extending sympathies to Jean’s family, saying, “this is undoubtedly what can only be described as a difficult time of bereavement for the Jean family.”

Botham Shem Jean attended a Christian college in Arkansas where he studied accounting and was a leader on campus who “really stood out.”

Botham Shem Jean, a recent college graduate known for his leadership and singing voice in church, was the pride of his family. To them, he was a young man who came to America to study accounting and they expected great things from him.

Botham Jean described himself on LinkedIn as an “aspiring young professional” who was “engaged in developing a career built upon integrity, dedication and relationships, leveraging useful technologies to gain an understanding of and add value in a range [of] industries, striving towards leadership in my career, my community and society.” According to his LinkedIn page, Botham was working in Dallas as a risk assurance associate for PricewaterhouseCoopers. In college, he was president of a Young Leaders group.

Landis Tindell, a former classmate who attended college with Jean in Arkansas, told Heavy.com in an e-mail that Jean was a “great leader on our campus.” Tindell explained, “He was a campus leader. Very active in leading worship and campus student government. I don’t think there was a student on campus who didn’t know Botham. He was always friendly, always smiling, and just all around a great person.”

The university released a statement to the Dallas Morning News that read, “We’re all deeply grieved. He was just one of those people who really stood out, with his voice and his leadership.”

Arielle Butler wrote on Twitter, “I was lucky enough to attend the same university as Botham and he was an awesome guy and leader. No one in the world deserves to meet their end in this way.”

According to news reports, Botham graduated college in 2015. “I always saw Botham around campus. He always wanted to lead in chapel in whatever way he could. He was always so nice and so kind. He was definitely a light at Harding – one who I could never forget. Prayers for his family and friends,” wrote Amy Johnson on Twitter.

Jean was a member of the College Church of Christ and sang on the choir. Church officials said he had a “beautiful voice” and a “spirit of joy that flowed from him.”

While attending Harding University in Arkansas, Jean was involved in the College Church of Christ.

“He led singing often in HU Chapel and at the College Church of Christ in Searcy,” Glenn Dillard, Harding’s assistant vice president for enrollment management, told The Christian Chronicle. “He had a beautiful voice.”

Tracy Moore, a preacher who knew Jean through church, told the Christian Chronicle: “I used to go to the Caribbean Lectures and met him there. An impressive young man. A powerful singer and always a spirit of joy that flowed from him.”

The Christian news site reported that Jean and his family were involved in Church of Christ in St. Lucia as well.

The police officer, who has worked for the department for 5 years, is on paid administrative leave.

The Dallas Police Department said in a statement that the officer who shot and killed Botham Shem Jean was not injured and would be placed on paid administrative leave “pending the outcome of the investigation.”

The officer, whose name has not been released, has worked for the department for five years, police said in a statement. She had just finished a 12-hour shift at some point prior to the shooting after working overtime because she made a late arrest, police said.

A written statement from the department said the officer was “tired” and thought she was in her own apartment, but at a press conference, Chief Rene Hall wouldn’t confirm that the officer being tired was the reason she went to the wrong apartment. Hall didn’t provide any other information about the officer other than saying she’s a “Caucasian female” who worked in the patrol division.

“The Dallas Police Department is conducting a joint investigation with the District Attorney’s Office. This investigation is ongoing and we will release additional details as they become available and it is appropriate to do so,” police wrote.

Many people on social media have expressed outrage over the bizarre circumstances of Botham Shem Jean’s senseless death.

“The tears won’t stop flowing for #BothamShemJean, he was chilling in his own house, minding his business! This officer should be in JAIL!!!!” one woman wrote. “Now in America if a cop mistakenly walks into YOUR home… You will get shot… Because hey… This is ‘merica. #BothamShemJean,” wrote another.

Some people on social media expressed how they were confused about how the officer could have thought Jean’s apartment was her own.

“So getting this straight, you ‘accidentally’ walk into someone else’s apt (how do you get in?) shoot them dead, realize then it wasn’t your apt, be like ‘oh my bad’ … Y’all had identical furniture & family photos? #BothamShemJean,” one man wrote.

Dallas-based activist Omar Suleiman wrote on Facebook that a vigil would be held Friday night (Sep. 7) at the Dallas Police Headquarters at 7 p.m. “You don’t just get to walk in someone’s house, shoot them dead, and say whoops I thought it was my own house. Join us tonight and demand justice for #BothamShemJean,” he wrote. He said any other person who did that “would be in jail.”

Baltimore Cops Carry Toy Guns to Plant on People They Shoot

We already know of a few Baltimore cops who are trash. In fact, we know of at least seven police officers from the Maryland city who we would consider “bad cops.”

Lieutenant Brian Rice, Sergeant Alicia White, Officer William Porter, Officer Garrett Miller, Officer Edward Nero, and Officer Caesar Goodson were directly responsible for the death of Freddie Gray in April 2015. The charges against all six of them were dropped, and they were all back to work by November 2017.

And just last month, Officer Arthur Williams was caught on video punching and tackling an unarmed man for no reason. He was suspended with pay and charged with assault. He pleaded not guilty, because of course.

But if you needed further evidence that some members of the Baltimore Police Department are walking garbage cans, look no further than this Vice article from January 2018 talking about how a trial revealed how Baltimore cops have a way to shoot anyone they want with impunity: they carry toy guns in their patrol cars to plant on innocent people.

From Vice:

Detective Maurice Ward, who’s already pleaded guilty to corruption charges, testified that he and his partners were told to carry the replicas and BB guns “in case we accidentally hit somebody or got into a shootout, so we could plant them.” The directive allegedly came from the team’s sergeant, Wayne Jenkins, the Washington Post reports.

Though Ward didn’t say whether or not the tactic was ever used, Detective Marcus Taylor—another cop swept up in the scandal—was carrying a fake gun almost identical to his service weapon when he was arrested last year, according to the Sun.

The revelation is just one of many egregious abuses that have come out of the sprawling trial that the Sun has called “Baltimore’s biggest police corruption scandal in memory.” Prosecutors say the squad, which was tasked with getting illegal guns off the streets, abused its power by robbing suspects and innocent people, raiding homes without warrants, and selling confiscated drugs, among other crimes.

This is America.

Police say six people are dead after a shooting spree in Bakersfield, California Wednesday night (Sep. 12).

According to reports, the gunman killed five people, including his wife, before turning the gun on himself.

A motive for the killing spree has not been disclosed, however, Lt. Mark King of the Kern County Sheriff’s Office said “there’s a strong indication” that it was a case of domestic violence.

The names of the victims and the deceased gunman have not been released.

Just before 5:30 p.m. PT, the unidentified gunman showed up at a trucking business with his wife and confronted another man.

“The suspect, the husband, shot the person at the trucking company and then turned and shot his wife” before chasing and shooting another man who showed up, Kern County Sheriff Donny Youngblood told KERO-TV.

Dispatchers received multiple calls about the shooting, which occurred in the 600 block of Manwell Boulevard in Bakersfield, California—an agricultural town about 90 miles north of Los Angeles.

A Kern County sheriff’s deputy stands near an area where one of the shooting victims lies (right) in Bakersfield.

The gunman then went to a home where he shot and killed a man and a woman, Sheriff Youngblood said. 911 Dispatchers received calls about that shooting, and when police arrived at the home, in the 9400 block of Breckenridge Road, they found the man and woman dead. The suspect had fled the scene by the time police arrived.

The gunman then carjacked a woman who was driving her child. The woman and child escaped, Youngblood said, and the woman called the police to give them a description of her vehicle. The suspect was later spotted on the highway by a sheriff’s deputy.

When the gunman saw the deputy, he pulled into a parking lot, and after the deputy confronted him at gunpoint, the man fatally shot himself in the chest, Sheriff Youngblood said.

About 30 people witnessed the shootings and were interviewed by deputies.

Lt. King said other than the wife, he was unaware of the relationship between the suspect and the victims.

Danyna Gibson, a 16-year-old girl from Michigan, has been making headlines after being fatally stabbed at school by one of her classmates.

Gibson’s classmate 17-year-old Tanaya Lewis has been arrested in connection with her murder. Both girls were students at Fitzgerald High School.

Here’s what you need to know about Danyna Gibson and her untimely death:

Danyna Gibson was allegedly killed over text messages between her and the suspect’s boyfriend.

According to reports, the incident sparked over text messages between Danyna and her accused killer’s boyfriend. In the text messages, Danyna is said to have told Tanaya’s boyfriend she was cheating on him. Tanaya allegedly caught wind of the messages and sought out revenge once she arrived at school the morning on September 12th.

Police say at around 8:30 a.m., Tanaya stabbed Danyna twice in the chest, striking her in the heart and in the back with a steak knife. The incident happened in a classroom with 30 students and a teacher present.

A resource officer attempted to perform CPR on Danyna, but she died at the hospital an hour after the stabbing occurred.

“At approximately 8:30 a.m. this morning, we received a report that a Fitzgerald High School student had stabbed another high school student resulting in injuries,” Fitzgerald Public Schools Superintendent Laurie Fournier said in a statement. “The alleged attacker has been arrested and is in custody. The injured student has been transported to the hospital. The high school is on lockdown until further notice. We will share updates when they are available. Please note the safety of our students and staff is our number one priority.”

Danyna was also rumored to be in a relationship with the boy she and Tanaya into an argument over. Danyna and Tanaya were also said to have been friends at one point in time and were both Straight-A students.

Danyna tried to run from her killer, but wasn’t able to escape.

One of the students who witnessed the tragic incident told WXYZ they saw Danyna running from her killer to save her own life, but wasn’t able to escape being stabbed to death.

“She was running towards me, she was screaming, and all I saw was the girl catch her and stab her in her chest,” said Francesca Pascua. “All I just saw was her running trying to save herself, and that’s when she stopped, and the girl grabbed her and stabbed her.”

The student also said Danyna’s killer was eventually pushed out of the classroom by a teacher and was exhibiting very bizarre behavior.

“She ran out the classroom while the teacher was pushing her out and she was saying I’m going to kill you I am going to slit your throat she was saying crazy things and like running around in circles,” said Francesca.

Another student who saw Danyna stabbed believes she had already been stabbed by the time they noticed she was severely injured.

“Part of me believe she was stabbed before we saw her get stabbed,” Orion Taylor said. “When she was in the back of the classroom because there was a blood trail, blood on the floor.”

Tanaya Lewis was arrested and will be charged as an adult.

Following the tragic stabbing, Tanaya Lewis was taken into custody on Wednesday (Sept. 12) and was arraigned Friday afternoon. She is being held without bond and was charged with first-degree murder.

Prosecutors said that Tanaya was seen smiling and laughing while she stabbed Danyna to death.

“This was not a heat of passion,” Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith said. “This was not a second-degree murder. This wasn’t an altercation of any sort. This was not ‘I’m going to meet you behind the lockers.’ This was premeditated. It was a complete surprise to our victim. There was no previous altercation in the classroom.”

Smith also said the incident occurred so quickly no one was able to catch it on video. “It happened so lightning fast that nobody had any time to get on a phone,” said Smith.

Tanaya could face up to life in prison and is due back in court on September 27th.

Danyna Gibson was a Straight-A student with a bright future.

Danyna was a Straight-A student and was said to have a big heart by many of her friends.

“She was goofy, clumsy. She was just silly,” one of her friends Tia Bennett said.

Her family told WXYZ that she was a member of the cross country team, robotics club, color guard, marching band and National Honor Guard Society.

Danyna’s father, Preston Gilbert, is still stunned over the death of his daughter, who he says was going to be valedictorian of her class.

“I thought it could never happen to me. My baby was gonna be valedictorian,” he said while speaking with the Detroit Free Press.

A vigil was held on Thursday in honor of Danyna’s death at the school’s football field. Her friends and family wore purple clothes and carried purple balloons as they came to together to remember her.

Fitzgerald High School released a statement about the murder.

After Danyna Gibson was pronounced dead at the hospital, Fitzgerald High School released a statement saying that the school would be closed on Thursday, September 13th. The school said they were cooperating with police and “conducting an internal review of the incident.”

Read the full statement below:

“We are deeply saddened to share that the Fitzgerald High School student who was stabbed this morning passed away at the hospital. Our hearts and prayers go out to the student’s family and we offer our deepest sympathy.

“Students at Fitzgerald High School were released at 10 a.m. this morning. On Thursday, Sept. 13, Fitzgerald High School will be closed however the middle school and elementary schools will be open.

“At the High School we have deployed additional counselors, psychologists and social workers for students and staff who need support during this difficult time. Students and their parents may come to the High School between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. for support and assistance.

“We are working very closely with the police department on this matter as well as conducting an internal school review of the incident which will review all our current safety procedures and protocols. Emma Walker & Riley Gaul: Quick Facts About High School Cheerleader Murdered by Football Player Boyfriend

Tonight, ABC’s 20/20 will be covering the tragic death of 16-year-old Central High School student Emma Walker who was shot in her sleep by her ex-boyfriend William Riley Gaul in November 2016.

Emma was a very popular and well-liked cheerleader at her school, while Gaul was a top student, who was a bit on the nerdy side, but was also a football player and enjoyed video games.

Following Emma’s death, Gaul tried to cover up his involvement in the case until he revealed too much information to his close friends, who were able to help authorities find him guilty of her murder.

Here’s what you need to know about Emma Walker, Riley Gau, and Emma’s 2016 murder.

Riley Gaul was liked by Emma Walker’s parents.

Emma Walker’s parents didn’t think much of their daughter’s relationship with Riley Gaul. They saw Gaul as a good kid and never deemed him as a threat to their daughter.

“Boy next door. He came in very polite, very nice in the beginning. He was very likable,” Emma’s mother Jill Walker said.

Her father Mark Walker said they even allowed them to spend quite a good bit of time together.

“I thought he was a very nice looking young man, well-mannered,” Mr. Walker said. “We would let them have some supervised visitation… He could come over to the house… they would meet up after football games… to eat, and things like that.”

Emma’s friends noticed Riley was very controlling over her.

At first, Emma’s friends thought Riley was just a shy guy, but after a while, they begin noticing his controlling ways.

“[Gaul], he didn’t really talk to us, her friends, a lot. But I was just like, ‘Oh he’s shy’… it just seemed normal,” One of Walker’s closest friends, Keegan Lyle said. “But then, after a while, was when we got kind of concerned.”

“He became kind of controlling over her, what she did, her activities,” she continued.

Another one of Emma’s friends Lauren Hutton said Riley became clingy over Emma and wanted her all to himself.

“He got more possessive and more clingy towards her, and wouldn’t let her do certain things,” Hutton said.

As the relationship progressed, Emma’s parents started to notice red flags in their relationship as well.

Emma’s mother Jill Walker said after the two had been dating for a while, Riley began to dictate to her daughter on what clothing she could and could not wear, so much to the point that she questioned her daughter about how he was treating her.

Mrs. Walker said things really took a turn for the worse when Riley started waiting outside of Emma’s job at the supermarket for hours. “He would just wait outside for hours,” she said.

Even Emma’s friends recalled the two having huge fights over social media and text messages, and were known as the couple to break up and makeup all the time.

But what really became concerning to Emma’s mother, and would affect any parent, was when Riley began referring to their daughter as being dead in a Snapchat message, which she said Riley later tried to make seem like he posted the message out of anger.

“We, on one occasion, saw one that said I’ll see your name in the obituary. He wrote that to her, and we questioned him about it… and he said, ‘I was just angry.’ … and that’s when I started to get many more red flags,” Jill said.

Emma’s parents went to wake her up one morning and found her dead.

On a Monday morning in November 2016, Walker’s parents followed their regular routine of waking their daughter up for school, but this time only to find her unresponsive.

“I went in there to wake her up, which it’s usually very easy to wake her up. And said her name, didn’t hear anything. Bumped her leg, didn’t hear anything. Then, looked at her face and realized, and checked for a pulse and couldn’t find anything. I don’t remember a whole lot from that. I know I called 911,” Jill said during her interview with ABC News’ “20/20.”

When police arrived on the scene, they found a bullet hole in the wall of her room and they also discovered two bullets had been fired into the room. Emma had been shot in the head with a 9mm handgun, one bullet striking her behind her left ear and the other lodged in her pillow.

Riley Gaul instantly became a suspect in the case.

Knox County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Allen Merritt, the lead detective in the case, told “20/20″ that everyone kept naming Riley as the person of interest.

“Everybody kept giving us the name Riley Gaul, because of their relationship, because they had seen the way that Riley had treated her, the way he’d talk to her,” Merrit said.

Walker had also recently ended her relationship with Gaul, but he was still contacting her after she broke things off. Gaul had also started acting very strangely over them parting ways and Emma was determined this time not to take him back.

Days leading up to Walker’s death, she received an anonymous text saying that Gaul was kidnapped.

Before being shot to death, Emma was sent text messages telling her that Riley was kidnapped and that she would have to cooperate in order for him not to be hurt.

“Go to your car with your keys,” the text read. “I’ve got someone you love. If you don’t comply I will hurt him. We have him now,” one of the messages read.

“If you don’t care about him anymore then it shouldn’t bother you. Call the police, and he dies. Your choice… If you’d like to hear his final screams, give me a call. He’s in a ditch beside [the] house. It’s a shame you can all of a sudden not value someone’s life,” read another text she received.

Emma was suspicious Riley was behind the text messages the whole time, and shortly after receiving the messages, she found him in a ditch outside her friend’s home. The next morning, an unknown man dressed in black showed up to her home banging on her door, and less than 48 hours later, she was found dead.

A friend of Riley’s later confirmed he was the man dressed in black.

The bullets in the gun that killed Emma matched a gun that was owned by Riley’s grandfather.

The same weekend Emma was killed, Riley’s friend Alex McCarty said Riley confided in him that he had stolen his grandfather’s gun for protection and that someone was out to get him and Emma.

“He ended up telling me that he was so fearful for his life that he had stolen his grandfather’s gun, and he showed it to me,” McCarty said. “I held it in my hand that night.”

“I was very worried. He reassured me over and over again that he was the farthest thing from suicidal,” McCarty continued. “He was just so scared of these people who were out to get him, were out to get Emma.”

McCarty and others told detectives about the gun Gaul had and how he feared people were out to get him. After speaking with Knox County Sheriff’s Office detectives, Gaul denied ever showing McCarty his grandfather’s gun and later question McCarty on why he told authorities about the gun.

Gaul also tried to convince McCarty and friends to not speak to the police anymore and told them he was going to get rid of the gun, which finally led them to believe that he was responsible for Emma’s murder.

“He was like, ‘The only thing we can do is I’ll just have to get rid of it. I have to get rid of the gun in order for me not to get pinned for something that I didn’t do, in order for me not to go to jail for something that I didn’t do, I have to get rid of this weapon,’” said McCarty. “That’s when I knew, like, he did it.”

Gaul’s friends offered to help police find the murder weapon.

McCarty and another one of Gaul’s friends Noah Walton both knew if they could help authorities find the gun Gaul had in his possession it would easily identify Gaul as the murder suspect. The shell casings at the murder scene were from a 9mm handgun, which matched the same gun Gaul showed them he stole from his grandfather.

Authorities warned the two men of the dangers and concerns of trying to help find the murder weapon, but the two were all in.

“Those two young men contacted us and asked if they could help us get what they believed to be the murder weapon back,” Knox County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Allen Merrit told ’20/20.’ Obviously, there’s concerns for their safety. We went over all that with them and they were still adamant, very adamant that they wanted to do this. They understood the dangers and the concerns, but they wanted to do it.”

In order to make the mission successful, detectives wired the two teens up with microphones, a transmitter where police could listen in, and a video camera hidden in a key fob, and planned out a sting operation to recover the potential murder weapon.

McCarty and Walton invited Gaul over to play video games to get some information out of him, but instead of getting a confession, Gaul denied killing Emma and tried to get his friends to tell authorities they were on LSD and alcohol and did not give accurate information when they spoke to authorities.

“He basically wanted to nullify all our previous statements by saying we were under the influence and we didn’t know what we were talking about,” said Walton. “I was like, ‘Okay, sure, bro, my bad. I didn’t know I was going to get you in trouble.’”

Gaul then decided to go by his grandfather’s house along with McCarty and Walton to get the gun and dispose of it at the Bluffs, a wooded area by the Tennessee River. Gaul went inside his grandfather’s house and came out with a black bag with the gun inside, but was hesitant to show them McCarty and Walton the gun.

Eventually, Gaul showed them the gun and through a code word they were able to notify the police who were waiting on standby the whole time.

Cops arrived at the scene and arrested Gaul, who was freaking out about getting caught.

“He’s just freaking out. He’s swearing left and right. He says, ‘I can’t go to jail. I can’t go to jail,’” recalled Walton.

Riley Gaul was hit with several charges for the murder of Emma Walker.

After being arrested and somewhere near 30 witnesses testifying against him, Gaul was charged with first-degree murder, stalking, theft, reckless endangerment and being in possession of a firearm during a dangerous felony. He was also sentenced to life in prison.

Gaul’s attorney argued in court that he had never meant to kill Emma Walker, but had fired the gun to try to scare her and get her attention. He also said Gaul denies being the mysterious “man dressed in black” who was on Walker’s doorstep.

“He never intended to cause her harm, never intended to cause her death,” Wesley Stone, Gaul’s attorney told ’20/20′ in his first ever interview. “It’s been in his heart. It’s been in his mind. It’s been in just everything about him. Every day for the rest of his life, wherever that may be, he will have to live with that reality.”

Riley apologized to Emma’s parents, but still acts like the whole situation was accidental.

“I’m sorry I took Emma away from you, that I robbed you of the experience of watching your daughter grow up,” Riley told Emma’s parents in court. “What I can do is tell the truth about that night… I wanted to scare her… I never meant to take Emma’s life. Again I am sorry.”

Meanwhile, his friends think his sentencing was more than fair.

“Take a life, give a life. It’s exactly what he deserves, honestly,” said McCarty.

WATCH: XXXTentacion’s Murder & Final Moments Captured on Surveillance Video Shown in Court

The Broward County Sheriff’s Office has released the surveillance video showing a group of men ambushing and killing rapper XXXTentacion as he was leaving a motorsports dealership in Deerfield Beach, Florida back in June.

The haunting footage showing the final moments of XXX’s life was played in public for the first time Thursday (Sep. 27) by prosecutors during a Broward County court hearing for one of the suspects.

The video shows X arriving at RIVA Motorsports at 3:30 p.m. on June 18th. X had a bag in his left hand as he and a friend entered the dealership.

A minute later, the footage shows the suspects’ car arriving and two of them walking into the store behind X. The men walked past XXXTentacion, who briefly looked at them before continuing his conversation with an employee at the store (as seen in the image above). The video shows the suspects walking to the back of the store and talking on their cell phones.

Less than 30 minutes later, around 3:55 p.m., as XXXTentacion was leaving the store and driving out of the parking lot, the rapper’s BMW was blocked by an SUV from exiting. When XXX stops his car, two men wielding guns jump out of the SUV—one holding some sort of assault rifle—and confront the rapper, while a person in X’s car flees.

Investigators say the men threatened and robbed XXXTentacion, and the video shows the men struggling with him. In the video, you can actually see the men reaching into X’s car as he resists.

As one of the men points a large gun into the driver’s side window, the other man goes around to the open passenger door and enters the vehicle. Shots are fired before the men flee with a Louis Vuitton bag from the rapper’s car. As previously reported, the suspects made off with $50K in cash, which was in the LV bag.

Prosecutors explained XXX’s final moments alive during a discovery and bail hearing for Robert Allen, one of four suspects charged with the rapper’s murder.

Prosecutors said the man who pulled the trigger is Michael Boatright and the other man seen in the footage who jumped into the passenger side of the vehicle is Trayvon Newsome. Dedrick Williams and Robert Allen were the two men seen following X into the dealership.

During Allen’s court hearing, in which he asked the judge to reduce his band, his attorney, Jim Lewis, said Allen never left the vehicle and did not take part in the robbery.

“He was at the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong people,” Lewis said (according to CBS Miami). “It’s always been my client’s position is he didn’t know this was going to be a robbery, he didn’t participate in it. He didn’t share any of the fruits of it.”

But prosecutors and investigators say that is far from the truth, and Allen is accused of playing a role in the murder—from being linked to the rental car to communicating with the other men who were outside the store prior to the murder.

The judge ultimately denied Allen’s request to reduce his bond, and all four men remain in Broward County Main Jail on premeditated murder charges.

Teacher Lowered Student’s Grade Because He Stopped Having Sex With Her, Lawsuit Claims

A former South Carolina teacher allegedly forced a student to have sex with her multiple times, and actually lowered his grade after he began to fend off her advances, according to a lawsuit filed by the student’s mother.

The suit, which was filed last month on behalf of the then 17-year-old male student and his mother, alleges that 28-year-old Jennifer Danielle Olajire-Aro—who taught math and was a tennis coach at Burke High School in Charleston, S.C.—blackmailed the teen into having a sexual relationship with her, and when he eventually refused, she would remind him that she controlled his grade.

The lawsuit says that the boy told his mother after the teacher dropped his grade from a 98 to 89 when he refused to have sex with her in December 2017. After confessing to the sexual encounters with the teen, Olajire-Aro was arrested that month and charged with sexual battery with a student. She was released on $100,000 bail and her criminal case is still pending.

The suit, which claims negligence, is against Olajire-Aro’s employer (the Charleston County School District). She is not named as a defendant.

The student’s complaint argues that the district failed to properly give him a “safe, educational, and harassment-free environment to receive a high school education” and accommodated “an environment which enabled [Olajire-Aro] to prey on the vulnerabilities of adolescent males.”

According to an affidavit, Olajire-Aro allegedly engaged in “an intimate and sexual relationship with her 17-year-old male student” on three occasions between November and December 2017 at her home and other locations in Charleston.

Olajire-Aro taught pre-calculus and algebra at Burke, the Post and Courier reported. She graduated from the University of Texas with a master’s degree in education, and had no prior record, her attorney said.

Olajire-Aro—a native of Dallas, Texas—also has a family of her own. “She is married. Her husband is a student at the Medical University of South Carolina (in) the residency program. She has a 10-month-old baby, a girl,” her attorney said in court in December.

A Charleston County School District spokesman declined to comment on the lawsuit as it is pending litigation. He said Olajire-Aro was hired by the district in 2017 and was placed on leave on December 18th, the same day officials found out about the allegations.

Olajire-Aro was fired in late January 2018, the district spokesman said.

Police in Florida say a man offered a woman at a Walmart in Port Orange $200,000 to buy her 8-year-old daughter from her.

According to WKMG TV, Hellmuth Kolb was arrested Saturday (Sep. 29) after a woman claimed he walked up to her while she was sitting on a bench inside the store with her daughter. The woman, Tracy Nigh, told police the 81-year-old man asked her if she was married before quickly changing the subject to her daughter. “It seemed like a friendly conversation. He didn’t seem like a threat at first,” Nigh said.

Kolb then asked Nigh several times if she would take money in exchange for her 8-year-old daughter. “The first amount was $100,000, the second amount was $150,000 and then the final amount was $200,000,” Nigh said. “I then said ‘No, we have to go.'”

Via WKMG TV:

Nigh said she was becoming more and more uncomfortable with the situation so she got up to leave with her child.

“I think what was going through my mind was, ‘What was going to happen here?’ and I just need to get her away as quickly as possible,” she said.

As the pair were leaving, police said, Kolb grabbed the girl’s arm, tried to pull her in toward him and kissed her wrist. Nigh pulled her daughter back and left the area immediately, notifying Walmart security before leaving the store, according to the arrest report. The incident was captured on surveillance video at the store. Deputies said the video shows Kolb grab the victim and forcibly restrain her against her will.

Deputies were able to identify Kolb through his credit card transaction and other investigative means, including social media, where another woman said she had experienced a similar incident with Kolb.

Nigh posted about the incident on Facebook to warn others about the encounter. “I felt like it was a duty to my community that I needed to warn other parents,’ Nigh said. “The more that come forward the better I think for this and for the community.”

Police said when they interviewed Kolb at his home, he said he remembered sitting next to a mother and her daughter at the Walmart. He also admitted to complimenting the woman, but said he didn’t recall grabbing her daughter, according to WNDB radio. Nigh later picked out Kolb from a photo lineup.

After being booked into the Volusia County Jail Saturday, Kolb was charged with simple battery and false imprisonment, and was ordered by a judge not to have any further contact with the girl or her mother.

That’s one bold MF to walk up to a woman to offer her money in exchange for her young child. WHO TF DOES THAT?!

Y’all be careful with your kids out here. Some people are legit CRAZY CRAZY.

The Florence, South Carolina cop who was killed in the line of duty today in an active shooter situation has been identified by officials as Officer Terrence Carraway.

Officer Carraway, along with six other cops, was shot Wednesday evening (Oct. 3) during a confrontation with a man who was holding children hostage. City of Florence spokesman John Wukela confirmed to the Associated Press that Carraway had died. He was 52 years old.

The conditions of the six other wounded officers haven’t yet been released, though Florence Mayor Stephen Wukela said that some of the officers are in “serious condition,” and the Florence County Sherriff’s Office said two of the officers were described as “touch and go.” A female officer was among those who were shot, FCSO officials said.

Florence County Sheriff’s Deputy Chief Glenn Kirby confirmed that a 20-year-old male civilian had also been shot, and his condition wasn’t immediately known.

Officials said Officer Carraway had just celebrated 30 years with the Florence Police Department, and today had been a “horrific day” for the community.

“I want you to pray for the family who lost the bravest police officer I have ever known,” Florence Police Chief Allen Heidler, visibly emotional, told reporters at a press conference.

Here’s what you need to know about Officer Terrence Carraway and the shooting:

Officer Terrence Carraway, an Oakland Raiders fan and former football coach, was described as a good family man and a “positive officer.”

Immediately after Officer Terrence Carraway was ID’d as the cop who was killed in the shooting, tributes started pouring in via social media, with many remembering him as a “good man” who was well-respected, loved and appreciated by those who knew him.

“Please pray for the Carraway Family!” a woman named Melissa Hardwick Welch wrote on Facebook. “As well as all the other officers fighting for another day to serve. Officer Carraway served his community to the fullest, his service and love for others will not go unnoticed.”

A man named Bruce Williams wrote: “My heart and prayers go out to the officers. My heart is full at this time. To Officer Terrence Carraway’s family, he was a very positive officer that looked out for many people in Florence. He was fair to everyone and an awesome man. RIP Officer Carraway.”

The Copperheads LE/MC Pee Dee Chapter, a bike club in South Carolina described as a nonprofit organization “with the sole purpose of supporting our brothers in law enforcement and military,” shared on Facebook that the group was planning a ride in honor of Officer Carraway.

“If you have a bike join our Chapter and many other clubs riding in Sgt. Terrance [Carraway’s] procession to honor his life and sacrifice,” the group wrote on Facebook. “Officer Carraway was one of the 5 officers shot today in Florence. Thank you Sir and rest easy brother.”

Carraway used to coach football years ago and was a huge fan of the Oakland Raiders, according to Heavy.com.

South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster and S.C. Senator Tim Scott asked for prayers on Twitter.

“This is simply devastating news from Florence,” Gov. McMaster wrote. “The selfless acts of bravery from the men and women in law enforcement is real, just like the power of prayer is real… I ask that you pray for them, pray for their recovery, pray for their families, and pray for all of Florence.”

“Prayers with injured officers in Florence and their families,” Sen. Scott tweeted.

President Donald Trump also tweeted about the shooting and offered his “thoughts and prayers” to the Florence County Sherriff’s Office and the Florence Police Department. “We are forever grateful for what our Law Enforcement Officers do 24/7/365,” he said.

The shooting suspect surrendered to police and is in custody. He was later identified as 74-year-old Fred  Hopkins, a disbarred lawyer and Vietnam Veteran. A motive hasn’t been released.

Around 5 p.m. on Wednesday (Oct. 3) reports came in of three sheriff’s deputies and two city of Florence police officers being shot during an active shooter situation. It was later confirmed that seven officers in total, three deputies from the Florence County Sherriff’s Office and four officers from the Florence Police Department, had been shot.

Sheriff Kenney Boone said during a press conference: “Fire was being shot all over. The way the suspect was positioned, his view of fire was several hundred yards. So he had an advantage and the officers couldn’t get to the ones that was down.”

Florence Mayor Stephen Wukela’s Office released the following statement:

“City of Florence Police Department responded to an incident in support of Florence County Sheriff’s Deputies. They took fire and several officers were wounded, some seriously. The incident has now concluded with the suspect in custody. Mayor Wukela will issue a statement at a later point.”

The suspect surrendered to deputies after talking with a negotiator, Florence County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Glen Kirby said.

Around 6 p.m., the Florence County Emergency Management dispatch released an update via social media that the suspect was in custody, writing: “The active shooting situation is over and the suspect is in custody. We are asking everyone to stay away from Vintage Place as there is still an active crime investigation in progress.”

Authorities said the shooting happened as sheriff’s deputies were attempting to serve a warrant at Vintage Place, an upscale neighborhood in the western part of the city, around 4 p.m.

The wounded deputies had to be removed using a bulletproof vehicle, Major Mike Nunn, with the Florence County Sheriff’s Department, said.

The shooter was later identified as a 74-year-old disbarred lawyer and Vietnam veteran named Fred Hopkins. He’s in custody at McLeod Regional Medical Center and hasn’t talked to police because he’s recovering from a head injury he suffered after falling during the shooting incident.

Florence is a small town about 70 miles north of Myrtle Beach with a population of about 37,000 people.

State Rep. Jay Jordan, R-Florence, asked that the South Carolina State House take a moment of silence for Officer Carraway and the injured police officers.

Rep. Terry Alexander, who represents parts of Florence, released a statement saying: “It’s just a very sad situation. We have got to do something about these guns. We should also remember to be calm and let the process take place. Let’s see what our magnificent law enforcement officers come up with to make sure that our people are safe, especially our children. I am in prayer for all six families who are hurting right now, including that of the shooter.”

74-year-old Frederick “Fred” Hopkins has been identified by authorities as the man accused of shooting several police officers in Florence, South Carolina.

Hopkins opened fire on seven law enforcement officers Wednesday (Oct. 3), killing Terrence Carraway, a beloved officer and family man who had just celebrated 30 years with the Florence Police Department. Two of the other wounded officers are in critical condition.

Authorities said Hopkins rained gunfire on the police officers from two agencies, killing Carraway and wounding six others, from a perch inside his home near Florence, South Carolina. Police were there to serve a search warrant for Hopkins’ 27-year-old son Seth, who was accused of sexually assaulting a foster child at the home.

Fred Hopkins, also known as Frederick Hopkins, was taken to the hospital because he fell and hit his head at the scene, and has not been able to speak with police. He is the husband of Cheryl Turner-Hopkins, a prominent divorce lawyer in the Florence area. Hopkins himself is a disbarred lawyer.

Here’s what you need to know about Fred Hopkins and the shooting:

Frederick “Fred” Hopkins is a Vietnam Veteran who claimed he suffered from Agent Orange.

Fred Hopkins wrote in rambling posts on Facebook that he was a Vietnam veteran and survivor of cancer, an ailment for which he attributed to Agent Orange exposure.

Court documents from an old child support case in 2000 indicated Hopkins was wounded in Vietnam. “Father was injured in the Vietnam war; his sole source of income is his disability check of $1127.00 per month,” the documents say in reference to Hopkins.

He wrote in one particular Facebook post (via Heavy.com):

“Today was a fantastic day! I went to the Dorn VA Hospital in Columbia, SC, and spoke with my oncologist, who gave me some very good news. My recent P.E.T. scan from the Charleston VA Hospital shows that I have no evidence of an active case of ‘b-cell lymphoma.’ Once I complete my schedule of chemo sessions, they will let me rest for several months and monitor my case with simple scans. That means — no radiation treatments in the near future. I am in remission!!! My family couldn’t be happier. Looks like I will be around for a few more years. I just might make it to my birthday in two days! The sun was shining and the powers above looked upon me with kindness.”

Hopkins also wrote that he had “many things to be thankful for and life is one of those miracles. Now I can concentrate on my nine little pups and give them hope. Have a great day, one and all. Today I tried to remember those who passed on 9/11 and all those friends of mine from EMHS who crossed over much too early! Be patient, we will all be together in the far future.”

In that post, Hopkins claimed that he had lost 50 comrades in Vietnam.

“I miss you all very much and especially those who died 6 May 1970 on the slopes of FSB Henderson, RVN,” he wrote. “Time magazine in the May 1970 issue it was the bloodiest firebase attack in the Army’s history. I lost more than 50 of the best brothers I ever knew my short life. They deserved better.”

Hopkins also wrote about being exposed to “heavy doses” of Agent Orange:

“Had the biggest ‘gut check’ of my life yesterday. I underwent 8.5 hours [of] chemo for ‘mantle cell lymphoma’ because I was exposed to heavy doses of ‘Agent Orange’ while performing combat duties with the 101st Airborne Division in Viet Nam in 1969-1970. I have been fighting this disease for five years on my own and the VA finally found out why I had pain and swollen nodules in my neck. Next chemo on June 12th. Feeling well so far, but was allergic to several meds they gave me. No pain, no gain! My eight kids are all in the house and one on the way — due about August 8th, plus or minus ten days. Updates to follow.”

Fred Hopkins’ wife, Cheryl Turner-Hopkins, is a prominent divorce and family attorney in the Florence area.

Fred Hopkins is married to Cheryl Turner-Hopkins, a well-known divorce attorney in the Florence area. In a 2011 news story, Cheryl Turner-Hopkins was quoted because she was representing a woman whose husband was accused of killing her.

According to Heavy, Hopkins recently posted on Facebook a series of pictures of flowers and other gifts his wife received for Mother’s Day. “These are pictures of my Bride’s (Cheryl Hopkins) many presents from Mother’s Day (13 May 2018) and posted on my timeline,” he wrote.

Hopkins indicated on Facebook that he and Cheryl have been married for more than 30 years.

“Today I spent several hours getting medicine for my wife of 30+ years,” he shared in one post. “I am very proud of her and know how important good medicine is a getting it on time. I would be lost without her good cheer and great jokes and stories from the courthouse. I am about to go to dinner in Garden City, SC and hope to meet my fourth son, Jeremy, who is now attending Clemson. Since I received my doctorate from USC, he is bound and determined to tell me that Clemson (ranked #3 nationally) is the best. Well, whatever.”

Fred Hopkins is a former lawyer himself, who was disbarred in 1984. He was also charged with disorderly conduct in 2014.

Fred Hopkins is a former lawyer who was disbarred in 1984, according to public records from the South Carolina Bar Association. His name was given as Frederick T. Hopkins, Jr. and the records show that he obtained his law degree from an unlisted law school in 1980.

According to the Associated Press, Hopkins lost his law license over $18,000 in wrongfully collected attorney fees. The state Supreme Court allowed Hopkins to pay back the debt over time and surrender his license in lieu of spending six months in jail, a court order from 1984 shows.

The court wrote that Hopkins was ordered to jail after he failed to return the money as part of a previous order. The order notes that Hopkins spent more than two weeks in jail before the court allowed his wife to be held jointly liable for paying back the money.

In 2002, Hopkins sued two men over the building of his home, but the court dismissed his case because he refused to participate in mediation as required by court order. Hopkins acted pro se, meaning he represented himself in the case, according to court documents.

Hopkins was charged with disorderly conduct in 2014, but the case was disposed of a few weeks later, court documents stated.

Fred Hopkins’ wife Cheryl Turner-Hopkins helped him with a previous divorce.

Fred Hopkins pictured with his wife Cheryl Turner-Hopkins.

According to a Supreme Court decision from 2000, Fred Hopkins was previously married to a woman named Carol Hopkins, and his second wife, Cheryl Turner-Hopkins, helped him with the divorce.

“Mother and Father were married in 1967; they divorced in May 1983,” that court case said, in reference to Fred and Carol Hopkins. “They had two children: (a son), born May 26, 1972, and (a second son), born December 4, 1969. Father was ordered to pay child support of $350.00 per month. In November 1986, Father was found to be $18,693.00 in arrears in his child support, and an order garnishing $432.60 per month of his military disability payments was entered.”

The court case continued: “The younger son…went to live with Father for approximately 5 months, from late April, 1990, through September, 1990. In early May 1990, Father instituted the instant action seeking custody of (the son); a hearing was held on May 13, 1990, three days prior to (the son)’s 18th birthday. Father sought termination of support for his older son …claiming he was over age 18 and was not entitled to post-emancipation support; Father did, however, request Mother be required to pay post-emancipation support for (the son). The family court gave Father temporary custody of (the son) but required Father to continue making his child support payments pending the final hearing.”

The court documents indicated that Hopkins “was represented at trial by his current wife, attorney Cheryl Turner Hopkins.”

Fred Hopkins is the father of sons who worked in law enforcement.

According to Facebook, at least two of Fred Hopkins’ sons have worked in law enforcement, and one is currently a police officer in South Carolina whose profile picture on Facebook shows him wearing a police uniform.

Another one of Hopkins’ sons posted a crying emoji as his profile picture on Facebook and shared a graphic that reads, “Light up Facebook with this blue candle for all of our fallen officers.” That son wrote on after the shooting of multiple Dallas police officers Facebook in 2016: “I have made a tribute video if anyone would care to see it….please feel free to visit my page and view it. Having been in law enforcement now for 11 years thought it was the least I could do to honor all of the fallen. If you like the video please feel free to share it.”

Another son of Hopkins listed his job as running odd jobs at the Cheryl Turner Hopkins law firms.

Authorities said Hopkins’ gunfire “was being shot all over” and the way he was positioned gave him an “advantage” over responding officers.

Officials said gunfire from Hopkins “was being shot all over” and officers saw fellow officers being gunned down.

The way Hopkins was positioned, officials said his “view of fire was several hundred yards,” which gave him a clear advantage over the responding officers. Authorities said the officers “couldn’t get to the ones who were down” due to the raining gunfire.

Hopkins opened fire on seven total officers, killing one, who was later identified as Florence Police Department Officer Terrence Carraway. Carraway had received a 30-year service pin within the last few months from the department, officials said.

The disabled Vietnam veteran, who barricaded himself in the home with children, was taken into custody Wednesday. He’s unable to speak with officers due to a head injury he suffered in the shooting incident.

According to WIS, the warrant that brought cops to the home was related to an accusation that Hopkins’ 27-year-old son sexually assaulted a foster child in the home. Son Seth Hopkins was ID’d as the civilian who was shot during the confrontation.

Devyn Holmes continues to be a living, breathing miracle after surviving being shot in the head earlier this year.

Back in April, a video went viral showing Holmes getting shot in the head by a woman playing with a gun. Not even six months later, another video has gone viral, and this time, it’s of him being met with cheers in his first public appearance since being released from the hospital.

Last Saturday (Sep. 29), video footage of Holmes on stage at a gathering in Galveston County, Texas on his first day out of the hospital was shared on a Facebook page called “Do It For Devyn,” which has been providing constant updates about his condition and miraculous recovery.

The crowd erupts in applause when Devyn, who celebrated his 27th birthday in May (a little over a month after the shooting) appears in his wheelchair.

The caption on the post reads:

Devyn had his 1st day out since April first/ Easter Sunday, and it was most definitely a night he will remember! We took him out to the #GCEAWARDS2018 and surprised the whole Galveston County with his appearance and the love and support shown was amazing!

We told Devyn if he wanted to attend he had to learn to sit up in a wheel chair on his own without being strapped down and he made it his goal to do so ? he just needed a little motivation and I know this night will motivate him to elevate in any way he can #KeepYoHeart3Stakks #GalvestonCountyStrongest #DoItForDevyn #FirstDayOut

Devyn’s mother Sheree Holmes told ABC 13 her son was in tears when he heard the audience.

An update posted on Friday, September 21st shows a glimpse of Holmes’ tremendous improvement. The video shows him doing leg exercises with a physical therapist, and after he’s seen raising his left leg, the person behind the camera says, “He’s never moved that [leg].”

Another video on the page, posted on June 28th, shows Devyn writing on a small whiteboard—another huge improvement for someone who was shot in the head at close range.

Another video, shared on July 21st, shows Holmes playing with his daughter Skyla. “You think you slick,” she says laughing after her daddy hits her in the head with a pillow.

A video uploaded a few days later on July 23rd shows Devyn tossing a ball back forth with nurses.

And Devyn can be seen talking, thanking everyone for their prayers and support, in another video update from August 11th.

Holmes’ mother said that he is now in rehab and took his first step on Saturday.

And as Holmes’ condition improves and his physical therapy ramps up, the legal case against Cassandra Damper—the woman who shot him in the head—continues.

Damper was charged with aggravated assault causing serious bodily injury and tampering with evidence.

LaShonda Childs: Quick Facts About Ohio Teen Shot to Death & Set on Fire by Her Abusive 28-Year-Old Ex-Boyfriend

A 17-year-old girl from Dayton, Ohio lost her life as the result of an ongoing domestic violence situation with her 28-year-old ex-boyfriend, who shot and killed her.

According to WHIO-TV, a CBS affiliate in Dayton, LaShonda Childs was rushed to Grandview Medical Center after being shot in the head late Tuesday night (Oct. 2).

Childs was pronounced dead early Wednesday morning. Her ex-boyfriend, 28-year-old Trendell Goodwin, was arrested Tuesday and charged with her murder Wednesday.

LaShonda’s 18th birthday would have been Friday (Oct. 5).

Here’s what you need to know:

Trendell Goodwin lied to LaShonda Childs about his age when they started dating in September 2017. Trendell was abusive towards LaShonda and would often harass her. He also bit her so hard one time that she started bleeding.

LaShonda’s mother, Nina Childs, told reporters that her daughter and Trendell Goodwin started dating last September after he lied about his age.

Trendell had told LaShonda he was 20 years old, and when LaShonda found out he was lying about how old he was, he started showing signs of abusive behavior.

Earlier this year, in February, Nina said Trendell bit LaShonda so hard that she started bleeding. Court records confirmed that incident.

Goodwin was arrested on February 19th after Childs told police he hit her in the face and bit her left shoulder during an argument about text messages involving another woman.

“Childs had a fresh bite mark on her left shoulder,” a Dayton police officer wrote in an incident report. “The left side of her face was swollen where she claimed Goodwin hit her. She also had had abrasions on the right side of her neck and her nose was bleeding at one point.”

Goodwin served 19 days of a 180-day sentence for misdemeanor assault, Dayton Municipal Court and jail records showed. Goodwin was ordered not to have contact with Childs, received home detention and was ordered to receive counseling.

LaShonda’s mother also said Goodwin would often steal LaShonda’s phones and harass her and her family. “He was the type of guy who would call you 70 times a day,” Nina said. “Nonstop. It was aggravating as well as annoying and scary.”

LaShonda’s brother said Goodwin continued to reach out to LaShonda, even after they broke up. “She was really in the process of leaving,” said Jaylon Childs.

LaShonda and her family went to the police for help on multiple occasions, and filed a restraining order against Goodwin after he pulled her wig off, set it on fire and threw it at her.

Nina Childs said that LaShonda eventually confided in her about how abusive Goodwin was towards her.

“LaShonda told me, ‘You know mom he made me walk from our house to his house with a gun pointed at my back. I was scared for my life as well as my family’s life,'” Nina said.

According to court records obtained by WHIO-TV, LaShonda and her family sought help from the police on multiple occasions.

“Goodwin was on probation for a misdemeanor assault case against Childs and was ordered not to see her when he allegedly pulled her hair and wig, set it on fire and threw it at her causing burns last month,” WHIO-TV reported.

Detective Justin Ellis wrote a statement about the September 13th incident in an effort to establish probable cause for an arrest warrant.

“Mr. Goodwin caught Ms. Childs on her front porch and tried to pull her by the hair,” Det. Justin Ellis wrote. “Her hair had been a wig and was pulled off. After noticing it was a wig Mr. Goodwin lit the wig on fire and threw it onto Ms. Childs causing burns to her left bicep. The burning sensation caused her to drop her phone. Mr. Goodwin picked the phone up and fled the scene. Mr. Goodwin has been sending threatening comments to Ms. Childs and Ms. Childs’ friends and relatives since this incident.”

A termination entry in that case filed a week later on September 20th said “Upon application of the Prosecuting Attorney and for good cause was shown,” the case was dismissed without prejudice.

WHIO-TV reported: “On Sept. 10, 2018, Dayton Municipal Court Judge Daniel Gehres ordered an additional year of probation for Goodwin and continued an April decision for a criminal protection order that Goodwin was to stay 500 feet away from Childs. The order also prohibited Goodwin from contacting Childs by telephone.”

A criminal complaint and affidavit filed in Dayton Municipal Court revealed that Goodwin also reportedly kidnapped LaShonda on January 31st, 2018.

“Trendell Goodwin slapped his girlfriend, LaShonda Childs in the face after she told him she was leaving to hang out with a friend,” Dayton police officer Sara VonHolle wrote. “The argument escalated until Goodwin threatened to knock out Childs. Goodwin then kicked Childs out of the residence with little clothing.”

Officer VonHolle’s statement continued: “After Childs attempted to make contact with neighbors she returned to the residence in an attempt to retrieve clothing and shoes. Goodwin then dragged Childs into the residence and would not allow her to leave. When DPD arrived on scene Childs could be heard from inside the residence yelling that he would not let her out. To affect the arrest, DPD forced entry into the home where Goodwin was taken into custody.”

Court records show that the case was presented to a grand jury for possible felony charges, however, a termination entry was filed on February 9th, 2018 that showed no counts moved forward. “Case ignored by the grand jury,” the entry read.

Less than two weeks before her shooting death, LaShonda posted a lengthy message on Facebook saying “domestic violence is real not just in movies.”

On September 21st, LaShonda Childs wrote a long message on Facebook about the dangers of ignoring signs of domestic violence. “Everybody want a crazy n***a until he got you hiding & dodging bullets,” she said. “If you see the signs don’t ignore it y’all. Domestic violence is real not just in movies.”

You can read her post, which has been shared more than 50,000 times, in its entirety here:

All jokes aside tho, everybody want a crazy n***a until he got you hiding & dodging bullets. If you see the signs don’t ignore it y’all. Domestic violence is real not just in movies. This n***a done broke several phones, busted windows out, followed me from my house to wherever, bit me several times, threw me into walls, made me walk places with a gun to my back, put all my stuff in a sewer, held me hostage in a house & didn’t let me leave, sat & waited at abandoned houses & watched me, pulled my whole sew in off leaving bald spots all that, now he done set my hair on fire & shot my house up that ain’t even half the shit he did but I’m telling y’all that ain’t where it’s at If y’all see the signs don’t ignore it i should’ve left that n***a a long time ago now I ain’t even safe in my own house..

Trenny Mack, Goodwin’s Facebook alias, responded the post and comments by other people. His comments have since been removed, but WHIO-TV copied them beforehand.

“If y’all really believe this s*** y’all sick,” read one comment by Goodwin. “This the 12th or 13th time she said I did something but still coming back. Stop it.”

When someone commented that Goodwin should let Childs “breathe,” he responded: “I’m a let her breathe today. She better come home tomorrow tho, I gotta big day planned and some good news.”

One of the most alarming comment threads on the post was from a friend who suggested she “block him” because “he got way too much access to you.” LaShonda responded: “Blocking don’t help he stole my phone he can get access to all my sh**.” Her friend then told her to “leave the city before you end up dead somewhere.” LaShonda said, “I am.”

On the morning of September 21st, Childs also posted that Goodwin had stolen her phone and set her on fire.

“Y’all Trenny Mack Stole my phone & set me on fire So if y’all been getting random inboxes or seeing dumb posts report it & if y’all see that n***a call the Police,” she wrote. “I’m sick of this sh** he on some ‘if I can’t have her nobody can’ weird a** sh**”

Goodwin fired multiple rounds into a parked car Childs and her new boyfriend were sitting in. Childs was shot in the head and died at the hospital the next day.

Not even two weeks after LaShonda’s alarming Facebook posts, she was shot and killed by Trendell Goodwin.

Court documents state that Goodwin fired multiple rounds at Childs and her new boyfriend while they were sitting in a parked vehicle on Tuesday, October 2nd.

Childs was shot in the head and was driven to the hospital by her boyfriend. She was pronounced dead Wednesday morning (Oct. 3).

According to the Dayton Daily News, Childs called 911 before she and her boyfriend were shot at.

“This dude got a gun pointed to my boyfriend’s head,” Childs reportedly told the 911 operator on Tuesday. “I’ve got a restraining order on him. The police told me to call when I see him. I gave you the address. Can’t you just send somebody out there? I’m scared. He’s got a gun. I can’t talk … I can’t talk. I’m in a bad situation.”

An autopsy confirmed that LaShonda died from a gunshot wound to the head.

Goodwin was arrested the night of the shooting and charged with her murder the next day. The Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office approved charges against Goodwin of murder (two counts), felonious assault (three counts) and improper discharge of a firearm (two counts) on Thursday (Oct. 4), WHIO-TV reported.

LaShonda’s mother, Nina Childs, said she knew something was wrong Tuesday night when police knocked on her door and asked her if everything was alright. “I said, ‘Well as far as I know. Why are you here?’” Nina said.

Police told her that LaShonda had been involved in an altercation, but didn’t say that she was shot and they didn’t mention Goodwin. At that point, Nina started calling LaShonda, but she didn’t answer her phone. “I’m still not thinking that my child was shot,” Nina said.

Not too long after, detectives came to her house and asked Nina if she knew what happened between her daughter and Goodwin. “I told them there was a protection order in place,” Nina said. “The basic reason was that she did not want to date him. He had posted lots of things on Facebook that he would kill her.”

Detectives then told Nina that her daughter had been shot and took her to Grandview Medical to see her. When they arrived, Nina said she had to take a moment before seeing LaShonda. “I couldn’t see my child like that,” she said. “I just couldn’t do it at that moment.”

Nina called her son, LaShonda’s brother Jaylon, to tell him what had happened to his sister. “I was at Walmart shopping,” he said. “I left the cart where it was, dropped everything and headed straight to the hospital.”

When Nina went back to see LaShonda, she said she knew her daughter was dead. “It was very obvious,” she said. “Looking at her I knew she had already died.”

“It was hard,” Jaylon said. “I’d seen her in the hospital before, but nothing like that.”

Nina said she received a call from Grandview hospital around 1:20 a.m. Wednesday morning and was told LaShonda had died. Both Nina and Jaylon said they hope Goodwin spends the rest of his life in prison without parole. “Whatever happens to him, I can’t get my sister back,” Jaylon said. “As long as justice is served, there may be some peace.”

Mugshot Madness: McDonald’s Worker Who Poisoned Police Officer Could Spend 20 Years in Jail

A McDonald’s worker could be spending the next two decades of his life behind bars for poisoning a Kansas police officer.

Authorities said 22-year-old Trevor J. Hockaday, who apparently is not too fond of police, put a peroxide-based cleaner usually used to clean the restaurant’s counter tops in an Allen County Deputy’s drink.

According to investigators, the deputy picked up food and a drink from the McDonald’s drive-thru while Hockaday was working, and a short time later, he began to experience flu-like symptoms. But the sheriff’s deputy wasn’t sick. He had been poisoned.

Officials said the deputy he didn’t find out until two weeks later when one of Hockaday’s coworkers told police that Hockaday had added “four little squirts” of cleaner into his drink.

“He thought he caught the bug, but we found out two weeks later when an employee came forward and told the police department,” Allen County Sheriff Bryan Murphy said.

Hockaday was arrested on Wednesday, September 12th and charged with suspicion of aggravated battery against a law enforcement officer.

Kansas police say a McDonald’s worker, 22-year-old Trevor Hockaday, poisoned an Allen County Deputy by putting a peroxide-based cleaner in his drink.

Sheriff Murphy said when he contacted the McDonald’s regional office in Joplin, Missouri, he was told that Hockaday had been suspended after an internal investigation, but law enforcement was never contacted.

Murphy said a regional restaurant official told him that the local manager had also not notified any regional or corporate managers of the incident. The sheriff said a McDonald’s official told them that it wasn’t their procedure to contact law enforcement when tainted food is reported, however, they said they would work on changing that policy.

Under Kansas law, adulterating or contaminating “any food, raw agricultural commodity, beverage, drug, animal feed, plant or public water supply” is considered a felony.

According to KOAMTV, the aggravated battery of a law enforcement officer is a level 3 person felony and those charged with it could face sent to prison for anywhere from 55 months (about 4.5 years) to 247 months (about 20.5 years), depending on their criminal history.

Glen Nichols, the owner of the McDonald’s where Hockaday worked, was horrified to learn that one of his employees would do such a thing to someone.

“In our restaurants, nothing is more important to us than the safety and well-being of our customers,” Nichols said in a statement. “We are very disappointed by the allegations made regarding the behavior of one of our former crew members. This kind of behavior goes against our food safety standards and is not tolerated. Our organization will take all appropriate measures to gather facts and will work closely with authorities in their investigation.”

White Man Who Shot at Black Teen Trying to Get Directions to School Found Guilty of Assault, Could Spend Up to 10 Years in Prison

A white man who shot at a black teen who was asking for directions was found guilty of assault by a Michigan jury.

Jeffrey Zeigler was arrested in April for firing his gun at 14-year-old Brennan Walker, who had gotten lost on his way to school and was asking for directions.

The incident, which sparked national outrage, was recorded on Zeigler’s home surveillance system, and the footage was shown by prosecutors to a jury on Thursday, October 11th.

The next day, the jury found Zeigler guilty of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder and possession of a firearm.

Zeigler was standing on trial for a more serious charge, assault with intent to murder, but the judge gave jurors the option of convicting him on the lesser charge.

Back in April, Brennan Walker had missed his school bus and tried to walk the four miles from his bus stop to Rochester High School, which is about 29 miles outside of Detroit.

Along the way, he got lost and started knocking on doors of nearby houses to get directions before eventually stopping at Zeigler’s house. He didn’t have his cell phone to help guide him because his mother had taken it the night before as punishment.

After knocking on the door, Brennan says a woman in the house (Zeigler’s wife) started yelling at him and accusing him of trying to break into the home. “She was like, ‘Why are you trying to break into my house?’ I was trying to explain to her that I was trying to get directions to Rochester High,” Brennan told Fox 2 Detroit at the time.

Moments later, Zeigler came to the door armed with a shotgun, and Brennan took off toward the street after spotting the weapon. As he ran away, Zeigler fired a shot at the teen.

Afterward, Zeigler claimed he never intended to fire the gun, telling police that the gun accidentally went off after he fell backward and his finger hit the trigger. However, the surveillance footage from Zeigler’s home, which was shown to the jury at the trial, directly contradicted Zeigler’s account of events.

The video actually shows a shirtless Zeigler raising his weapon and taking a few seconds to aim at Brennan before firing a shot. The recoil from the shot sent Zeigler back. Fortunately, Zeigler’s one shot missed, and Brennon said that that he was happy he didn’t “become a statistic.”

“My mom says that black boys get shot because sometimes they don’t look their age, and I don’t look my age. I’m 14, but I don’t look 14,” Brennan said.

Brennan’s mother, Lisa Wright, says race definitely factored into the incident and she considered Zeigler’s actions a hate crime.

“One of the things that stands out, that probably angers me the most is, while I was watching the tape, you can hear the wife say, ‘Why did “these people” choose my house?’” Wright told Fox 2 Detroit. “Who are ‘these people?’ And that set me off.”

During his defense testimony, Zeigler said he didn’t try to see what Brennan was doing at his door because the scene was “so chaotic.” He said, “I was concerned about my wife. I was concerned that someone was coming through the door.”

Of course, the surveillance footage showed Brennan waiting patiently on the porch, barely moving until he ran off after seeing Zeigler’s shotgun.

Around the time of the incident, Zeigler’s lawyer said the man, who is a retired firefighter, and his wife had been on “high alert” for possible break-ins after their home had been broken into several times before.

“He has given his whole life to the business of saving lives,” defense attorney Robert Morad said in April. “He has no signs, no history of racism. If there were any racial issues, he wouldn’t have spent his career working in the city of Detroit.”

Morad said the Zeiglers had been victims of home invasions four times, including once by a “neighborhood kid” who was subsequently convicted, however, that doesn’t give Zeigler the right to be trigger happy.

Zeigler’s attorney said his client’s conviction of the lesser charge of assault with intent to do great bodily harm showed that the jury didn’t believe that he intended to kill Brennan … EVEN THOUGH HE SHOT AT HIM WITH A FRIKKIN’ SHOTGUN.

Jeffrey Zeigler could face up to 10 years in prison for the assault conviction, plus a mandatory two years for the firearm charge. His bond was revoked and he was ordered to jail until his sentencing on November 13th.

A veteran state trooper was shot and killed while making a traffic stop early Wednesday morning (Oct. 17).

According to the North Carolina Department of Public Safety, the deadly confrontation unfolded just after midnight when Kevin Conner stopped a pickup truck for speeding in Columbus County.

When the driver pulled over to the shoulder of the road, Conner approached the vehicle, and the driver allegedly fired several shots, authorities.

The suspected shooter then drove away, authorities said, leading police on a car chase, but his pickup became stuck while trying to drive over a railroad crossing, so he fled on foot.

After an “extensive search,” the suspect was found in a wooded area and taken into custody without incident.

Conner was rushed to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

“The Highway Patrol family is mourning the loss of a hero,” State Highway Patrol commander Colonel Glenn McNeill Jr. said in a statement.

Conner was an 11-year veteran in Columbus County. In 2011, he extinguished a car fire while also tending to a driver involved in a head-on collision.

The department “will forever be changed by the tragic events,” McNeill Jr. said. “We ask everyone to please keep Trooper Conner’s family and all who knew him in your thoughts and prayers.”

The suspect’s name has not been released and charges are pending.

Police in have one suspect in custody and are looking for two others following a shooting outside the Cook Out fast food restaurant in Spartanburg, South Carolina over the weekend that sent six people to the hospital.

Here’s what you need to know:

The shooting happened in the parking lot of a Cook Out restaurant. Six people were shot and admitted into the hospital.

Spartanburg Police Department officers responded to reports of shots fired at the Cook Out on John B. White Sr. Boulevard not too long after 11:30 p.m. last Saturday night (Oct. 13). According to the responding officers, the suspect(s) never entered the fast food joint and shooting happened in the parking lot.

A total of six people were shot: two males and one female victim were taken to Spartanburg Regional via ambulance, and the four others with gunshot wounds were taken to the hospital by personal vehicle.

The shooting victims’ ages range from 16 to 24-years-old, and fortunately, none of them suffered any life-threatening injuries and were expected to recover, police said.

The majority of the victims in the shooting were innocent bystanders, police said, adding that some of them were students from either Dorman High School or Spartanburg High School.

Three vehicles in the parking lot were hit by gunfire, police said.

Dorman High School senior Kaden Vaughn said he was shot in the leg and his arm was grazed by a bullet.

One of the shooting victims, a Dorman High School senior, spoke to Fox Carolina about the incident. He said he was struck in the ankle and his arm was grazed in the shooting.

“We heard shots and I remember getting hit,” Kaden Vaughn said. It felt like a rock hit me. Like, I didn’t want to believe I got shot, at first, and then I got grazed in the arm and it went straight through my cup.”

Vaughn said he and another Dorman student, who was also injured, were about to leave the restaurant when the shooting broke out. He said they went to the restaurant to eat after the Byrnes vs. Dorman football game—which is something most high schoolers do after sporting events.

“Before I could even get down to the parking lot, we just heard shots and everyone started running,” Vaughn said. “I kind of went down at first to like, feel my leg. I was like, this is going to be a nasty bruise when I wake up. I ran to my truck. All of a sudden, I look down and there was a hole in my pant leg and I pulled my pants up and there was blood everywhere.”

The teen added: “There was still shots going off when I got in the truck so I didn’t want to stay. I wasn’t about to wait for nobody so I just tried to drive myself home. I remember, my right foot kind of gave out on me halfway home so I had to drive home left-footed then I got home and my parents rushed me to the ER.”

Vaughn said when he arrived at the Emergency Room, doctors found “two big holes” in his ankle. “It went clean through and left some holes, but thankfully it didn’t hit the bone or tear anything major,” he said.

The shooting happened after a fight broke out in the parking lot. One of the suspected shooters is in custody and the other two have warrants out for their arrests.

From L to R: Trevor Lamont Gist (18), Jarcoby Tramon Geter (16) and Fredrick Lee Smith Jackson (18)

On Thursday (Oct. 18), nearly one week after the shooting, police have finally released the names of the three suspects accused of opening fire and they finally have information about the shooting.

Police said the shooting was the result of a fight that broke out in the parking lot of the Cook Out restaurant. The suspects are 16 and 18 years old, police said.

Frederick Smith’s mugshot

18-year-old Frederick Lee Smith Jackson was arrested and charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, possession of a weapon underage, and six counts of assault/attempted murder.

Police said warrants have also been issued for 18-year-old Trevor Lamont Gist and 16-year-old Jarcoby Tramon Geter—who were both still wanted as of Thursday.

Geter was charged with possession of a weapon underage, possession of a stolen weapon, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and assault/attempted murder.

Police are asking anyone with any information about the incident to contact the Spartanburg Police Dept. at 864-596-2065 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIMESC.

Justin Crawford, a former Georgia high school and college football star and NFL flameout, was arrested last weekend for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl who is related to him.

Police said Crawford, 23, was spotted by his wife in the living of the couple’s home in Columbus, GA standing over the young girl while he had an erection at about 5 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 13), the Ledger-Enquirer reported.

Crawford’s wife, Chakeya Crawford, later said that she only saw him exposing himself and he immediately ran into the kitchen to cover up.

When she questioned her husband about what had happened, he denied any wrongdoing, and she went back to bed with the hopes of revisiting the incident at a later time. (Ed. note: First of all… WTF?!)

“I did not see anyone having sex, or I would have called police right away,” Mrs. Crawford later told the Ledger-Enquirer. She said when she asked her husband why he ran, he told her, “You scared me. That’s why I ran.”

When she took the 12-year-old to the child’s mother, she asked what happened, and that’s when the girl explained everything. She said when she was asleep in the living room, Crawford walked in and had her perform oral sex on him before they had sexual intercourse.

The girl was taken for a medical exam that included compiling a “sex assault kit” to collect any DNA evidence, Detective Mark Scruggs said.

When questioned by police, Crawford initially denied any sexual contact with the girl, but later admitted to having oral sex and intercourse with her, claiming that the whole thing was her idea, Det. Scruggs said.

A judge found probable cause to send Crawford’s case to Muscogee Superior Court and ordered him to be held without bond, according to the Ledger-Enquirer.

Crawford now faces felony charges of incest, sodomy and enticing a child for indecent purpose, jail records show.

Crawford—a native of Columbus, GA—was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Year in his senior season at West Virginia University after transferring from Northwest Mississippi College following his sophomore season.

While at junior college, he was named the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Offensive Player of the Year.

During his time at West Virginia, Crawford racked up more than 2,200 rushing yards with 11 touchdowns in two seasons. He was considered an exceptional running back who rushed for 331 yards in a game against Oklahoma in 2016 when he was a college junior.

Crawford signed as an undrafted free agent with the Atlanta Falcons in May, but, according to the team’s website, he was cut from the roster in September during the preseason. The Atlanta Legends of the Alliance of American Football also said Crawford was waived after his arrest.

The man who was arrested for shooting and killing North Carolina State Trooper Kevin Conner during a routine traffic stop early Wednesday morning (Oct. 17) has been identified as 20-year-old Raheem Cole Dashanell Davis.

Conner was killed just after midnight after pulling Davis’ car over for speeding in the southeastern area of North Carolina.

According to CBS News, when Conner approached Davis’ white pickup truck, Davis shot at Conner several times and fled the scene. Conner was transported to a nearby hospital where he later died of his injuries, officials with the NC State Highway Patrol said.

Davis then reportedly drove 20 miles west to the Fair Bluff area of N.C., leading authorities on a pursuit for several hours.

After his truck got stuck on railroad tracks, Davis jumped out and fled on food. Police eventually tracked him down in the woods and arrested him in around 4 a.m. in Fair Bluff, near the South Carolina state line.

Davis is reportedly being held at the Columbus County Jail and has been charged with first degree murder.

Conner, an 11-year police veteran, was described as “the nicest guy you would ever meet,” per a statement by the Bladen County Sheriff’s Office.

North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper said in a statement: “The tragic loss of Trooper Kevin Conner of the N.C. State Highway Patrol weighs heavily on our hearts. We are forever grateful for his devoted service and selfless commitment to protecting the people of North Carolina. Our prayers are with his family and friends and his colleagues in law enforcement.”

“The Highway Patrol family is mourning the loss of a hero and will forever be changed by the tragic events that have occurred”, said Colonel Glenn McNeill Jr., commander of the State Highway Patrol. “We ask everyone to please keep Trooper Conner’s family and all who knew him in your thoughts and prayers.”

Gov. Cooper ordered all United States and North Carolina flags at state facilities to be lowered to half-rise on Thursday through sunset on Sunday in honor of Trooper Conner.

Conner’s funeral will be held Sunday at 4 p.m. following visitation between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. at South Columbus High School.

Philly Rapper AR-AB Indicted on Federal Drug Charges, Could Face Life Prison Sentence

The feds have Philadelphia rapper AR-AB and his OBH movement in their crosshairs, and they could be headed to prison for a very long time.

According to Attorney William M. McSwain, the rapper and eight other men were indicted on federal drug charges.

The men are accused of running a drug trafficking organization with multiple counts related to the distribution of large quantities of drugs in North Philadelphia, including cocaine, crack, methamphetamine and heroin.

The charges include:

“conspiracy to distribute 5 kilograms or more of cocaine, 280 grams or more of crack, 50 grams or more of methamphetamine, and 100 grams or more of heroin. The superseding indictment also includes individual charges of possession with intent to distribute cocaine, methamphetamine, crack, and heroin; distribution of methamphetamine; and a charge of unlawful possession of a firearm.”

The federal agents are under the impression that AR-AB, whose real name is Abdul West, is the leader of the drug trafficking organization that distributed over 5 kilos of cocaine from at least March 2017 through June 2018.

The following individuals, all of Philadelphia, have been charged (according to the Dept. of Justice):

  1. Abdul West, a/k/a “Assault Rifle Ab,” “AR-Ab,” “El Patron,” “the Goon,”
  2. Jamaal Blanding, a/k/a “Bionickhaz,” “Khaz,” “Deangelo Smith,”
  3. Jameel Hickson, a/k/a “Meliano,” “OG,”
  4. Richard Chase Hoover, a/k/a “Boog,”
  5. Dontez Stewart, a/k/a “Taz,”
  6. Amir Boyer, a/k/a “Mulla,”
  7. Daryl Baker, a/k/a “Shotti,”
  8. Hans Gadson, a/k/a “NoBrakes Bras,” and
  9. Dennis Harmon.

The indictment alleges that AR-AB’s organization was part of a network that received drugs from California and distributed them in Philadelphia.

Philly’s Top Goon” and his crew are also being accused of purchasing high-end rental properties in Philly to evade detection and to protect their supply of drugs.

During two different raids on properties owned by AR-AB, cops recovered a large amount of drugs, thousands of dollars in cash and a handgun.

From the DOJ:

On September 11, 2017, the Philadelphia Police Department executed a search warrant at a house owned by West on North Sydenham Street, recovering 62 grams of crack, 229 grams of heroin, and 48 grams of methamphetamine, as well as $8,000 in cash and a handgun.

On May 17, 2018, the FBI executed a search warrant at an apartment complex on Christopher Columbus Boulevard, recovering approximately 10 kilograms of cocaine and nearly 6 pounds of methamphetamine, along with $20,000 in cash.

“The charges alleged in the superseding indictment are extremely serious, and if convicted, these defendants are facing major jail time,” said U.S. Attorney McSwain. “The investigation and prosecution of drug trafficking organizations remains a high priority of this Office and the Department of Justice. We are committed to doing everything we can to keep our streets safe and stop the flow of these deadly drugs into our communities.”

If convicted, AR-AB could face a life prison sentence.

Back in February, AR-AB won $200,000 in a bet against Birdman that the Philadelphia Eagles would win the Super Bowl.

The Philly rapper was also reportedly close to signing with Drake’s OVO imprint at one point after Drake name-dropped him on his Meek Mill diss track “Back to Back.”

Cesar Sayoc, a HUGE Trump Supporter, Identified as Suspect Who Sent Package Bombs to Top Democrats

Meet the man who law enforcement has confirmed as the package bomb sender. Cesar Altieri Sayoc Jr. was arrested Friday morning (Oct. 26) in connection with the suspicious packages that were sent across the country to various Democrats and to CNN’s headquarters in New York City.

Sayoc is a 54-year-old resident of Aventura, Florida, but is originally from the Bensonhurst neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York City. He was arrested outside of an auto parts store in Plantation, Florida—a suburb of Ft. Lauderdale.

Sayoc has an extensive criminal background and (SURPRISE!) is a big Trump supporter.

Here’s what you need to know:

Cesar Sayoc is a registered Republican and a huge Trump supporter.

According to online records, Cesar Sayoc is a registered Republican.

He reportedly registered with the GOP in Florida in March 2016 and was pictured at a Trump rally that year wearing a MAGA had and proudly holding a “Welcome President Trump” banner.

The feds seized a van owned by Cesar Sayoc that was covered in political stickers.

As a part of Cesar Sayoc’s arrest, Federal agents seized a van owned by him that is covered in political stickers including images of President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence.

The above photo is a close-up image of one side of the van, taken by Twitter user Mahmud mohamed, shows images with crosshairs over the faces of Hilary Clinton, Michael Moore, CNN’s Van Jones and many others. “I saw this van in Hollywood at a stop light … and thought this was strange,” Mahmud mohamed tweeted.

Cesar Sayoc has a lengthy criminal history and was charged with making a bomb threat in 2002.

Cesar Sayoc has an extensive criminal background, with arrests in Broward County, Florida dating all the way back to 1991, court records show.

In 1991, Sayoc was charged with third-degree grand theft, which is a felony. That same year, he pleaded guilty to the charges and was sentenced to two years probation.

Sayoc’s own mother sought a domestic violence injunction against him in 1994, according to court records.

In 2002, Sayoc was charged with making a bomb threat in Dade, County Florida and was sentenced to one year of probation. Prosecutors agreed to dismiss the felony charge after he completed the probation in 2003.

Sayoc was also arrested in 2004 on drug charges after he was accused of possession and sale of steroids, including possession of a controlled substance without a prescription, tampering with evidence, filing fraudulent tax returns, criminal use of personal ID info and possession or unlawful issue of a driver’s license. He was sentenced to 18 months of probation that same year after pleading guilty to the charges.

In 2009, Sayoc was charged with operating a vehicle without a valid license, not having insurance and not having a tag light and was fined after pleading guilty to the misdemeanor charges.

In 2013, Sayoc was charged with battery and third-degree grand theft—a felony. He pleaded guilty to the charges in 2014 and was sentenced to probation. While on probation in 2014, he was arrested on a petit theft charge and (of course) violation of probation, which landed him 30 days in jail.

Sayoc was also reportedly arrested in Dade and Palm Beach counties on theft charges in 1992 and 2015.

Cesar Sayoc once worked as a tour manager for Chippendales.

Cesar Sayoc filed for bankruptcy in 2012 and was working as a store manager at a supermarket in Hollywood, Florida at the time. At one point, he also worked as a tour manager for Chippendales.

In 2014, while on probation for battery and grand theft, court records show he requested permission to travel due to his job as a road manager for Chippendales, International Gold Productions and Caesars Palace Royale Burlesque Show.

Cesar Sayoc sent suspicious packages containing pipe bombs through the mail to a number of Democrats and Trump opposers.

Cesar Sayoc shipped several suspicious packages containing pipe bombs to a number of top Democrats and liberals, including philanthropist George Soros, Bill and Hillary Clinton, Barack and Michelle Obama, Joe Biden, Maxine Waters and Robert De Niro.

A suspicious package sent to former CIA Director John Brennan forced the evacuation of Time Warner Center in New York City. Others who received packages included Cory Booker, Kamala Harris, Eric Holder, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Tom Steyer and James Clapper. A total of 14 packages were sent and no one was injured in the attempted attacks.

The FBI is treating their investigation into Cesar Sayoc as domestic terrorism, and if convicted, he could face up to 58 years in prison.

Suspected Mail Bomber Cesar Sayoc Once Called Donald Trump the “Greatest Commander in Chief”

$

A South Florida man was arrested Friday morning (Oct. 26) in connection to the string of mail bombs sent to prominent Democrats this week. That man is 56-year-old Cesar Sayoc, Jr. of Aventura, Florida. And the details that have emerged since his arrest are just as crazy as you’d imagine.

So what’s the first thing we learned? Well, unsurprisingly (considering he was targeting democratic politicians and CNN in his mail bombs), Sayoc was an avid supporter of President Donald Trump, even claiming that Trump is the “Greatest Commander Chief.”

His social media profiles were littered with pro-Trump and anti-Democrat posts and pictures, and he was apparently very excited about the upcoming “red wave” that he believed would take place in the upcoming midterm elections. Here’s just a few from his now-deleted profiles.

He was very happy to celebrate Trump’s birthday, apparently.

And here he is at what Trump claimed was the biggest-ever presidential inauguration.

And here he is proudly sporting the now-famous red “Make America Great Again” ball caps.

Again, none of this is entirely surprising. If someone is intentionally targeting left-leaning people and organizations, it wouldn’t be a leap to think that he also supports Donald Trump. So what else have we learned?

Sayoc was also the owner of a very creepy white van (is there really any other kind of white van besides creepy, though?) and might have lived in it at one time. The van (pictured below) is plastered with pro-Trump, anti-CNN, and “conspiratorial” stickers.

After seeing the van being towed on TV, a local Floridian, David Cypkin, realized he recognized the van, telling The New York Times he often saw that van parked at a local strip mall.

“It struck me because of the crazy conspiratorial stickers covering the windows,” Cypkin said. “It was unsettling, and also it seemed to be occupied. Sometimes the door would be ajar or a window would be open, which indicated to me that maybe somebody was living in the van.”

Now, again, creepy guy sending off bombs in the mail potentially living in a creepy white van? Not the hardest thing to believe. So what else do you got, Sayoc?

Well, according to his Twitter profile, Sayoc was a former professional soccer player, wrestler, and cage fighter.

A former associate of his, Justin Humberger, also said that he had been told Sayoc played college soccer. Now while I couldn’t find any proof that Sayoc played either professional or college soccer, the fighting part, well, I might believe that. I mean the dude’s got some guns for arms, so it could be true.

So what is the ultimately weirdest thing that has come out about Sayoc? Well, apparently he was the manager of a traveling “male revue show” that was described as being in the style of “Magic Mike.”

That’s right, this former soccer player/wrestler/cage fighter who may have been living in his van while sending out homemade pipe bombs through the mail was also managing male strip shows.

But, like many of us, Sayoc wasn’t truly loving his current career and was considering a new business venture. His next great idea? Fish farms. According to Humberger, Sayoc had opened a bank account for the new business before being arrested Friday morning.

And finally, the least surprising detail to emerge. As in most of these type of cases (bombings, shootings, murders), Mr. Humberger also said that Sayoc was “always sweet and a nice guy in general.”

There were reportedly close to 100 people inside the Tree of Life Congregation Synagogue during a prayer service at the time of the shooting.

As many as 12 people were shot at the scene, including three police officers. Of the 12 shot, at least 8 are confirmed dead.

Bowers, a resident of Pittsburgh, allegedly yelled “all these Jews need to die” during the attack.

Before entering the synagogue, Bowers wrote on the social media site Gab, “HIAS likes to bring invaders in that kill our people. I can’t sit by and watch my people get slaughtered. Screw your optics. I’m going in.” (FYI: HIAS is the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society.)

According to the Associated Press, the shooting took place during a baby naming ceremony.

Robert Bowers was armed with multiple handguns, including an AR-15 style rifle, and was shot by police.

According to NBC News reporter Tom Winter, Robert Bowers was armed with multiple handguns, including an AR-15 style rifle. Bowers was described as a “heavy-set white male with a beard,” KDKA reported.

According to NBC News, Bowers shot at police and was shot at least once by police during the exchange of gunfire at the synagogue. After his standoff with police, Bowers was reportedly crawling due to the injuries he sustained in the gunfire exchange.

After Bowers was apprehended by police, he was taken to the hospital and is undergoing treatment.

The synagogue’s former president, Michael Eisenberg, told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette that the shooting took place on the third floor of the building. Eisenberg said there is usually a child’s class on that floor but it had been canceled on the day of the attack.

“It’s a very horrific crime scene. One of the worst that I’ve seen and I’ve been on some plane crashes. It’s very bad,” Pittsburgh public safety director Wendell Hissrich said during an emotional press conference briefing.

Mugshot Madness: Father & Daughter Arrested for Incest After Their Baby Died

A father and daughter pair from South Carolina were both arrested on charges of incest after the woman gave birth to a baby by her own father that later died.

The Laurens County Sheriff’s Office says 20-year-old Katlyn Lauren Edwards and her 38-year-old father James Travis Brown were engaged in an unnatural sexual relationship, which resulted in Edwards being impregnated by Brown and the eventual birth of a child.

After the baby boy died at a medical facility in Charleston, Edwards was arrested and charged with incest.

Brown, who is already in jail in another county on unrelated charges, will reportedly be transferred to the Johnson Detention Center in Laurens County after he’s released to face his own incest charges.

The infant’s cause of death was heart failure, likely due to complications related to what authorities said was a “consensual and mutual relationship.”

Michael Polson, an investigator with the Laurens County Sheriff’s Office, said that Edwards “left her husband to be with [her father].”

Polson added that Edwards accused her father of sexually abusing her, but said there was “no evidence of that,” and she even at one point said their sexual relationship was consensual.

Polson told People: “All evidence points to the relationship. It doesn’t point to abuse. And then she’s admitted it was consensual.” Polson said Brown also “admitted [the sexual relationship]” and said he felt that his daughter was in love with him.

Investigators said they found evidence to support the claims of a mutual sexual relationship.

More from People:

Polson says that during Edwards’ childhood, her father was “in and out of her life.” He adds the two “have a troubled past, but she was 20 years old when she decided to do all this. She wasn’t a child.” Polson would not elaborate further on what he meant by “troubled past.”

In October 2017, Polson says, Edwards “left her husband. She moved in with her father and then they got pregnant together in January 2018. They continued communicating until July, and then it ended. She started seeing another guy.”

“She wanted [Brown] to stop and be her daddy,” Polson says. “She wanted [Brown] to be a father figure to her.” According to Polson, the sheriff’s office has handled incest cases before, but this one is unique. “It’s usually a victim saying a family member close to them forced sex on them. It’s rare to have one to say, ‘We had consensual sex and we got pregnant,’” Polson says.

Polson says the baby’s death certificate says he died from heart failure. After speaking with doctors, investigators believe the circumstances of the child’s birth were related to his death. “Anytime in an incest situation, sometimes the inside of the body doesn’t work right,” Polson says, citing doctors.

“It is beyond my comprehension how this could take place between a father and daughter. At this time, I can’t confirm the baby died from complications related to incest, however we wonder if that’s the case,” said Laurens County Sheriff Don Reynolds. “We are working with medical professionals and the Solicitors Office regarding that aspect of the investigation and will update everyone if there are any additional charges.”

At Least Two Dead, Including Gunman, After Florida Yoga Studio Shooting

Police say at least two people are dead and at least six others were wounded after a gunman open fired Friday (Nov. 2) at a yoga studio in Tallahassee, Florida.

Police reportedly received a call around 5:37 p.m. of a shooting at the Hot Yoga Tallahassee studio and found multiple gunshot victims when they arrived at the small shopping center where the yoga studio is located.

The gunman killed one person and wounded four others before he shot and killed himself, police said.

Police Chief Michael DeLeo told reporters that the six wounded were being treated at local hospitals.

One person was in critical condition, three were serious and two were in good condition, according to Danielle Buchanan, spokeswoman for Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare.

“The suspect is deceased and one victim has passed away at the hospital,” DeLeo said.

The Tallahassee Democrat reported that Alex Redding, a customer at a nearby bar, said several people came inside seeking assistance, saying a tall man with a beard had been acting strangely inside the Hot Yoga Studio and then began shooting during a class.

Redding said a man with blood on his head told patrons at the bar he tried to stop the shooter, but he was pistol-whipped before the shooter turned the gun on himself.

Authorities believe the gunman acted alone and there wasn’t an immediate threat to the Tallahassee community. Officials didn’t give a motive for the attack or any details about the shooter.

“All evidence points to a single actor who has stayed on scene and is deceased at this time so there is no additional threat to the public,” DeLeo said.

A source said there were 11 people signed up for the 5:30 p.m. hot yoga flow class and one canceled earlier in the day. The class instructor was reportedly uninjured in the shooting.

Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum, the Democratic nominee for state governor, said he stopped campaigning to return to the city.

“I’m deeply appreciative of law enforcement’s quick response to the shooting at the yoga facility in Tallahassee today,” Gillum tweeted. “No act of gun violence is acceptable. I’m in close communication with law enforcement officials and will be returning to Tallahassee tonight.”

Megan Nixon was eating downstairs at Riccardo’s Restaurant when she heard something going on upstairs. “We heard pop, pop, pop. It sounded intense. It didn’t sound like gunshots,” she said.

About 30 seconds later, Nixon said she saw two young women run into a bar next door, then she saw a man, covered in blood, run in.

Nixon said the restaurant’s owner locked the door to protect those inside. She said she didn’t understand the events that interrupted what was supposed to be a family night out.

“It’s terrible,” Nixon told the Tallahassee Democrat. “They’re in a yoga studio trying to relax.”

City Commissioner Scott Maddox was among the officials who immediately rushed to the scene of the shooting. “In my public service career, I have had to be on some bad scenes. This is the worst. Please pray,” he posted on Facebook.

High School Teacher Arrested After Video Shows Him Fighting Student in Class

A California high school teacher was arrested after he was caught on video fighting a student in his classroom.

According to ABC 7, students in the class said an argument over a dress code violation led to the physical altercation between the teacher and the student.

Video footage from the confrontation at Maywood Academy High School in Maywood, CA went viral on social media last week.

After listening to the student hurl insults at him, the teacher swings at the student and punches him right in the face, and all hell breaks loose.

After all was said and done, the 14-year-old freshman student was taken to a local hospital for minor injuries and the teacher—later identified as 64-year-old Marston Riley—was arrested on suspicion of child abuse and causing great bodily injury.

Opinions on social media about the incident are divided. Some people who have watched the clip are on the teacher’s side, while others believe the teacher should have handled the situation differently. But a student at the school says both parties were responsible for the fight.

“I think it was both of their faults, like the teacher and the student,” said student Enrique Deharo. “I was scared for the kid, and partly for the teacher, too.”

“It was just back and forth, back and forth, and then the teacher just decided to throw a punch and that’s when everything happened,” another student said.

The video shows the student cursing at and antagonizing Riley while repeatedly using the n-word. The student even calls Riley a bitch at one point in the clip. The below video shows the student hitting Riley with a basketball.

“I felt, like, a little bothered, because you know, it’s kind of racist,” student Ivan Valencia said.

As for parents, they’re divided on the issue. One mother said Mr. Riley was simply defending himself and was completely in the right.

Another woman said Riley is known for being aggressive.

“I think something needs to be done,” Miriam Guizar said. “That’s way out of hand. I don’t know what is the teacher’s problem. I know kids say stuff that they shouldn’t, but he should be accountable.”

“I’m shocked. Why did it have to escalate to this point?” one woman said. “I think something needs to be done. That’s way out of hand,” said another parent.

“I send my kids [to] school to learn, not to hit,” another parent remarked.

Texas Poll Worker Charged for Assaulting Voter & Making Racist “Blackface” Comment

Juanita Barnes was removed from her duties as an assistant alternate election judge Tuesday (Nov. 6) after a black voter reported her for making a racist comment and assaulting her at a polling place in North Houston, Texas.

According to the Houston Chronicle, a black woman named Rolanda Anthony told police that Barnes approached her after she was having trouble with a dispute over her address.

Anthony was told that she had to fill out a form to clear up the matter, and that’s when Barnes started yelling that it was illegal to change her address on election day. As several voters looked on, Anthony said she told Barnes her address hadn’t changed.

Barnes, who is white, then told Anthony “Maybe if I’d worn my blackface makeup today you could comprehend what I’m saying to you,” according to Anthony and a witness.

Edith Randle, the presiding election judge overseeing the polling place, intervened, eventually told Barnes she was wrong and to get out of Anthony’s way. As Anthony and the poll worker filled out the form, Barnes approached her again and yelled at her.

When Anthony later told Barnes she was going to call police, Barnes walked up to her again and aggressively bumped her with her shoulder. Anthony said Barnes then said to her: “If you call the police, they’re going to take you to jail and do something to you, because I’m white.”

Barnes was relieved of her duties and left the building after sheriff’s deputies and two lawyers and an investigator from the Harris County Attorney’s office arrived to take reports from witnesses.

At least one of the poll workers quit in protest in response to Barnes’ actions, and another was in tears as she gave a statement to a sheriff’s deputy about the altercation.

Anthony said she believes the incident was a blatant attempt at voter suppression. “I feel like my vote today is more important than ever,” Anthony told The Chronicle.

“I think it’s really ridiculous and I think her purpose was to prevent me from voting,” Anthony said. “She did it egregiously. She did it because she wanted to prove that she had some kind of white supremacy over me. She did that purposely and intentionally to intimidate me, but I will not be intimidated.”

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said Barnes was given a Class C misdemeanor citation. Gonzales later tweeted: “Voters and poll workers should feel safe from harm while participating in our democratic process. We will not tolerate any form of violence or intimidation at the polls.”

Prestina Stuckey, a poll worker and daughter of Edith Randle, the election judge, said she left the polling site because she couldn’t stand to tolerate the abuse she said Barnes gave out to her mother and Anthony. “She had just been saying little stuff all day,” Stuckey said. “She was nitpicking all day.”

Anthony wrote about her experience in a Facebook post.

“I was racially profiled and disrespected, then threatened by a white lady working at the CHURCH where I’m voting,” she said, adding that Barnes was “relentless” as she followed her around the polling place and “[got] in her face.”

You can read her post in its entirety below:

“Good morning. I’ve just had to call the sheriff’s at my voting location. I was racially profiled and disrespected, then threatened by a white lady working at the CHURCH where I’m voting.

“This lady questioned my residency. When I explained that the address is completely correct, she told them to check it again because it couldn’t be. When I finally challenged her she declared, maybe if I wore my black face make up today you’d be able to understand me.

“After her atrocious statement I walked away, she was relentless she followed me throughout the voting location and got in my face not one but two times finally I had enough and said I’m calling the police.

“She had the audacity to say I’m white they’ll arrest you and charge you with a crime not me, haven’t you seen the news. Her name is Juanita Barnes and she’s the assistant election judge in Harris county precinct 1012. I’m currently awaiting the arrival of Harris county sheriff’s deputies.”

Anthony did confirm that she was able to vote despite all of the drama.

Voter intimidation is illegal, but it can often be hard to define or prove in a court of law.

The law is defined as any act of an individual that works to “intimidate, threaten, or coerce” a voter or voters. If convicted, you can face up to a year of jail time.

A gunman opened fire on multiple people at a country music bar in Thousand Oaks, California Wednesday night (Nov. 7), killing at least 12 people, including a sheriff’s deputy, and injuring several others.

The shooter, whose name has not yet been released, was reportedly found dead inside the venue with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The sheriff’s deputy who was fatally wounded was identified as Ron Helus, a 29-year veteran of the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office.

Police said “at least 200 people” were inside the Borderline Bar, which was hosting a “college country night” gathering for students.

Ventura County Sheriff’s Sergeant Eric Buschow told reporters on the scene there were “multiple fatalities.” Captain Garo Kuredjian said he could not comment on the status of the victims, however, the number of victims was expected to rise.

Instagram Photo

Among the victims was a Ventura County deputy sheriff, a doorman, a cashier and college students. The lifeless body of a suspected male victim was seen on KABC-TV helicopter video outside the bar.

Captain Kuredjian said there was no immediate threat to the public and homicide investigators are at the scene investigating.

The gunman—reportedly dressed in all-black, wearing a trenchcoat, glasses, a baseball cap and a mask covering the bottom part of his face—opened fire at around 11:20 p.m. (2:20 a.m. ET Thursday).

One officer was injured when he arrived at the scene with colleagues and “attempted to neutralize the threat,” Capt. Kuredjian said.

One woman, who didn’t give her name, said she was inside the bar when she heard “a lot of gunshots.”

“We dropped when we heard the gunshots,” she told MSNBC. “I looked behind me and there was a smoke bomb going off.”

Witnesses said the shooter fired at least 30 shots from a pistol with extended mags and threw smoke grenades.

One witness, a man named John Hedge, told ABC 7: “I was at the front door talking to my stepdad. I just started hearing these big pops. Pop, pop, pop. There was probably three or four and I hit the ground. I look up and the security guard was dead. Well, I don’t want to say he was dead, but he was shot. He was down, and the [shooter] had a handgun. He threw in smoke grenades all over the place and he kept firing. I saw him point to the back of the cash register…and he just kept firing. I ran out the front door.”

Hedge’s stepfather, Tim, told the news station, “He fired the first shot. I knew it was live. I knew it was real. My son thought it was a joke so I pulled him down and got some cover. I looked up and he was moving to the right. He shot the front doorman, who was just a young man. Then he shot the cashier, just a young girl. Then he started moving to the right. He wasn’t looking at us. Then he went into the office, where all the cash and stuff is. He didn’t say anything at all. He just started shooting.”

“I thought it was a joke when the shots started firing. I know people there. I hope everybody’s OK. I don’t know how I didn’t get shot,” John Hedge told KABC.

Another witness said: “This maniac came in. Threw in smoke to confuse people and opened fire on the dance floor. He’s taken many young lives.”

According to news reports, people were hiding from the shooter in bathrooms and attic spaces in the bar, while others who managed to escape the venue ran to nearby gas stations for medical help. Some people reportedly had to use chairs to break windows inside the bar to escape.

The Los Angeles Times reported that one woman was in the front of the restaurant with more than a dozen friends when the gunman came in and started shooting at the ceiling. She said a friend threw her onto an outdoor balcony so that she could escape. She said she was afraid some of her friends were still inside the bar.

Witnesses have said that many people at the bar also attended the Route 91 country music festival in Las Vegas in October 2917, where the worst mass shooting in modern U.S. history claimed the lives of 58 people and injured 851 others.

“A lot of people in the Route 91 situation go here,” 23-year-old Chandler Gunn told the L.A. Times. “There’s people that live a whole lifetime without seeing this, and then there’s people that have seen it twice.”

Carl Edgar, who came to the scene after hearing about the shooting, told the Times: “As far as I know, all of my friends are OK, safe. There are a few people we can’t get a hold of, but in these situations people usually turn off their phones to be safe so I’m not gonna get too worried. A lot of my friends survived Route 91. If they survived that they’ll survive this.”

Captain Kuredjian said it’s been a while since shots were fired in the city. He said the area is safe and shootings are a very unusual occurrence. In fact, Business Insider called Thousand Oaks, which is about 40 miles west of Los Angeles, the third-safest city to live in in the United States.

The gunman who opened fire on a crowded college bar in Thousand Oaks, California Wednesday night (Nov. 7)—killing at least 12 (including a brave sheriff’s deputy who ran in without backup) and wounding many more—has been identified as 28-year-old Ian David Long.

RELATED: At Least 13 People Killed (Including Gunman & Sheriff’s Deputy) in Mass Shooting at Bar in Thousand Oaks, California

The Borderline Bar & Grill in Ventura County was packed with around 200 college students as it hosted it weekly “College Country Night” event when gunshots rang out around 11:20 p.m. A man, later identified as Long, had walked into the bar and started firing with a handgun.

A number of patrons broke windows to allow themselves and others to escape, cutting themselves on shards of glass as they exited.

Sheriff’s deputies responded quickly to the shots fired reports, and as they rushed the bar, the gunman opened fire on them, killing Sergeant Ron Helus, who was labeled a hero for giving his life to save the lives of others.

The suspected shooter, Ian David Long, died of a gunshot wound at the scene. Earlier reports said he shot himself, but officials didn’t confirm that. NBC News reported that Long drove his mother’s vehicle to the bar, but authorities later said that information hadn’t been confirmed either.

Police said Long was “heavily tattooed” but didn’t provide any details about the tattoos, which were used to identify him, along with fingerprints, NBC News reported.

“I was thinking that might be the last day of my life. I was just hoping not to get killed,” one eyewitness told KTLA-TV of the shooting. The witness was eventually rescued by the SWAT team.

A woman in the neighborhood described how she saw a lot of people, mostly aged 18 or 19, “running everywhere.” The sidewalks were covered in blood and some witnesses described how they hid in the bathroom.

Here’s what you need to know about Ian Long and the shooting:

Ian Long is a former U.S. Marine and served in Afghanistan as a machine gunner.

Ian Long had a military background, the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office confirmed in a news conference.

According to TMZ, Long—a veteran who was in the United States Marine Corps—served in Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 3rd Marine Regiment, Third Marine Division, in Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii, and he entered active duty in Los Angeles, California, according to journalist Cassie Carlisle.

Long was deployed to Afghanistan in November 2010 through June 2011.

The Marine Corps confirmed that Long served in the military from August 2008 to March 2013 and earned the rank of corporal.

He was a machine gunner who received numerous awards, including a Navy Unit Commendation, Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation, Combat Action Ribbon, Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon X2, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and NATO Medal – ISAF Afghanistan.

Long recently underwent a mental health evaluation for acting “irate.”

Ian Long has had prior run-ins with Ventura County police over the years, including an incident this past April when Long was described by a neighbor as screaming and banging on the walls of the home where he lived, NBC reported.

The neighbor called 911 thinking that Long was violent and possibly trying to hurt himself. Deputies from the Ventura County sheriff’s department responded to the call and found Long acting irate and irrationally, Sheriff Geoff Dean said.

Following an evaluation from mental health specialists, they decided not to take Long into custody.

That April incident wasn’t his first run-in with the law either. Sheriff Dean said: “We’ve have had several contacts with Mr. Long over the years, minor events,” including an incident in which Long was the victim of batter at a local bar in 2015.

UPDATE (08:47 A.M. ET): False alarm! A malfunctioning water heater that makes a sound similar to gunfire caused active shooter reports at a North Carolina High School Friday morning (Nov. 9).

According to WECT:

Commissioner George Brown said a piece of equipment at the school that has been malfunctioning in recent days and it sounds like gunfire when it makes noise. This has been going on for several days and is being investigated as a source. Regardless, officials are taking the situation very seriously to ensure everyone’s safety.

Pender County Emergency Director Tom Collins said he also believed a malfunctioning water heater caused a gunfire noise and that the sheriff’s office is expected to hold a news conference soon.

“I was sure it was not gunfire over an hour ago,” said Commissioner David Williams, who is also the assistant coach for the varsity football team. “I also coach football there. Lately (during practice), we’ve been hearing a piece of mechanical equipment go ‘bam bam bam.’ It made us the first time we heard it turn around.”

Williams said he has heard the sound personally and can understand how someone might hear it and make a report. He thinks it could be a remnant problem from Hurricane Florence, explaining the sound is up high, near the roof line and faces the back of the building.

“Obviously I was worried,” Williams said. “My son goes to school there. My daughter just graduated.”

Williams believes the law enforcement response was 100 percent correct. There are a lot of kids on campus in the morning for practice.

“They did exactly the right thing. Law Enforcement did what they’re supposed to do,” Williams said. “There’s no such thing as an over response.”

This is good news, as this would have been the second mass shooting in the United States within 48 hours. Hopefully, they get that water heater fixed ASAP though!

El Chapo’s long-awaited trial kicked off Tuesday (Nov. 13) in federal district court in New York, but it was briefly delayed due to an “anxious and upset” juror who brought a doctor’s note to court in an effort to help get her removed from the case.

The woman, identified only as juror No. 1, came to court with a doctor’s note saying she couldn’t serve on the trial, which could last up to three to four months, the judge said.

“I got a handwritten letter which details medical issues that have been brought about by her selection,” Brooklyn federal Judge Brian Cogan told lawyers. “This person has been anxious and upset since selection … If I were to ask further questions, it will result in a breakdown and crying.”

Juror No. 1 reportedly burst into tears last Wednesday (Nov. 7) after finding out she was among the seven women and five men selected as jurors in the trial for Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman—the notorious leader of the dangerous Sinaloa drug cartel.

At the time, Judge Cogan refused to let her off, saying he didn’t see any “real hardship there.” He added, “My concern is that if one gets off with a few tears, we’re going to have a trail of tears.”

Well, thanks to juror No. 1’s well-timed doctor’s note, she was dismissed from the case. Instead of replacing her with one of the six alternates, lawyers on both sides agreed to select a fresh juror, which they did Tuesday morning.

Coincidentally (or not), a second juror later complained that he would lose out on income if he continued to serve, even though he’s unemployed. Like juror No. 1, the man was eventually dismissed from the case as well. Several others have expressed fear about serving on the jury.

For what it’s worth, El Chapo has promised not to kill anyone (including jurors) from the federal trial, his lawyer said earlier this year.

61-year-old Guzman, dressed in a blue suit and tie, reportedly waved to his beauty queen wife, Emma Aispuro, who smiled back in the heavily secured courtroom. He shook hands with each of his attorneys and also gave a slight wave to the judge before taking his seat.

In opening statements before jurors, Assistant U.S. Attorney Adam Fels described Guzman as a man who went from small-town drug dealer to a kingpin capable of turning $10 million cocaine deals.

Fels accused Guzman of having an army of hundreds of men with assault rifles in Mexico and alleged that Guzman himself had a monogrammed diamond-encrusted handgun and a gold-plated rifle. “Guzman himself pulled the trigger and ordered the disposal of bodies,” Fels said. “Money. Drugs. Murder. … That is what this case is about.”

Guzman’s defense attorney Jeffrey Lichtman said Guzman spent significant time behind bars in Mexican prisons, and the flow of drugs into the United States never slowed down. “Yet, he’s blamed for being the leader. The truth is, he was the leader of nothing,” Lichtman said.

Guzman’s multiple escapes from Mexican prisons further fueled the myth that he was a dangerous drug cartel boss, Lichtman said. “A conviction of Guzman is the biggest prize the prosecution could have dreamed of,” he told the jurors. “They claim he is the biggest drug dealer in the world. It’s false.”

Guzman, who has been held in solitary confinement since his extradition to the United States early last year, has pleaded not guilty to charges that he collected a multi-billion-dollar fortune smuggling tons of cocaine and other drugs in a vast supply chain that reached well north of the Mexican-United States border.

If convicted, El Chapo could spend the rest of his life in prison.

Multiple people were wounded, including a police officer, after a gunman opened fire at a Chicago hospital Monday afternoon (Nov. 19). The suspected gunman was also reportedly injured in the shooting.

According to news reports, gunfire broke out at Mercy Hospital, located in the South Side of the city, around 3:20 p.m. Monday.

The Chicago police officer who was shot is in critical condition. The police department released a statement via Twitter saying there were “reports of multiple victims” following the shooting.

Fewer than six people were believed to have been shot and at least “one possible offender” was also shot, an official said.

Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said the wounded officer in critical condition was receiving “excellent care” at University of Chicago Hospital.

Officials believe there was only one shooter, however, officers are doing a “methodical search” of the hospital, Guglielmi said, just in case.

At least 15 ambulances were dispatched to the hospital, according to Guglielmi.

A hospital employee said an announcement came over Mercy’s public address system telling everyone in the hospital to lock their doors, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The hospital was later “partially evacuated” and people were put on Chicago Transit Authority buses while officers searched Mercy.

“They told us to run, so we did,” one hospital employee told reporters.

One person is dead and three others were injured after a shooting in downtown Denver Monday (Nov. 19). The three people who were injured sustained non-life threatening injuries, Denver police said.

According to officials, police are still looking for the suspected shooter.

Via USA Today:

Denver Police spokesman Doug Schepman told reporters that no arrests have been made and police don’t know if there was more than one shooter. Authorities did not immediately release any information on potential suspects.

Denver Health Medical Center spokesman Simon Crittle said paramedics from the hospital responded to the shooting and found one person dead at the scene.

Officers closed several streets in the area, about three blocks from Coors Field, home of the Colorado Rockies, after police first received reports of gunshots around 4 p.m. MST.

Downtown is obviously a very populated area, and so to have multiple gunshots fired in an area like this is quite concerning,” Schepman said.

Mugshot Madness: Man Arrested for “Threatening” to Blow Up Bathroom Says He Just Had to Poop Really Bad

A New Orleans man was arrested at a restaurant after allegedly “threatening” to “blow the bathroom up.”

According to an arrest warrant obtained by NOLA.com, 30-year-old Arthur Posey walked into Willie’s Chicken Shack last Tuesday (Nov. 13) and asked an employee what time the restaurant closed.

When the employee told Posey didn’t know, he allegedly replied: “Y”all about to close right now because… I’m about to blow this place up.”

Cops were called, and when they tracked down Posey, he claimed it was a huge misunderstanding. He explained to the restaurant’s employees that he really didn’t mean that he was going to blow the place up with a bomb … he meant he had to poop really bad and used the term “blow up the bathroom” in jest.

Restaurant staffers, however, didn’t see it that way, telling police that Posey was very angry during the discussion and claiming that he never mentioned the bathroom when he made his alleged threat.

The police didn’t buy Posey’s story either and he was arrested on the spot. He’s now facing two charges of communicating false information and planned arson and will need to appear in court for a competency hearing, Fox News reported.

It isn’t known whether or not Posey was able to eventually relieve his bowels.

Moral of the story: We’ve all blown up a bathroom or two, however, not everyone knows what you mean when you say that, so it’s best to just tell folks you have to use the toilet and leave it at that.

Keith Caneiro & Family Killed Prior to New Jersey Mansion Fire, Keith’s Brother Charged With Setting Own House on Fire With Wife & Kids Inside

On Tuesday (Nov. 20), authorities responded to the scene of a house fire in Colts Neck, New Jersey. Upon arrival, they discovered 50-year-old Keith Caneiro dead outside of his burning mansion with a gunshot wound in the back of his head. Inside, his 45-year-old wife Jennifer and two young children, 11-year-old Jesse and 8-year-old Sophia, lay dead among the flames with stab wounds.

The gruesome discovery came just hours after Caneiro’s brother, Paul, 51, was dealing with his own house burning down 12 miles away. A neighbor of Paul’s told NJ.com that he was visibly upset hours after the fire at his home was extinguished.

“He said, ‘it must’ve been a gas leak.’ He has tears in his eyes. [His wife] Susan was devastated,” the neighbor said. “He said, ‘I’m in complete shock. I can’t believe this is happening to me.”

Paul’s reaction would be understandable save for the fact that on Wednesday, Paul was arrested on a charge of aggravated arson.

According to a criminal complaint, Paul set fire to his own house “by using gasoline and igniting the gasoline causing the residence to catch fire while his wife and two daughters were inside.”

Paul Caneiro pictured with his family on the left: (L-R) Daughter Katelyn, 26, wife Susan, daughter Marissa. Paul’s mugshot is on the right.

Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher Gramiccioni said at a news conference Tuesday: “The case has transcended into a multiple homicide investigation in addition to the arson matter. And to date, our investigation has revealed that unfortunately, sadly, each of these individuals were the victims of homicidal violence at some point prior to when the fire was set.”

Police are treating the case as an arson and believe the two fires are connected, but it is unclear if Paul is responsible for also burning down his brother’s $1.5 million New Jersey mansion.

“it’s important to emphasize that we have no reason to believe that anyone in the community is in any danger at this time,” Gramiccioni said.

He continued to mention that, “both of those homes are owned by family members…I’m sure you have questions as to if they are related, and that remains to be seen. But it is an angle that we’re continuing to pursue.”

“Just let us do our investigation,” he concluded.

The two brothers were business partners at their consulting firm, Square One, as well as a pest control company they ran together.
